Dove Creek Resort offers a waterfront location with beautiful ocean views and a convenient proximity to Key Largo attractions. While many guests appreciate the comfortable beds, charming rooms, and friendly staff, repeated concerns highlight ongoing renovations, limited amenities, and occasional maintenance issues.
I stayed from Friday 19 to Sunday 21. The hotel isn’t luxury but it’s a cute spot and honestly just perfect! The room was very clean and smelled cleaned. The AC was my favorite cause the room was always cool! The location was great too as it was a nice middle to everywhere that we visited! For the price, it’s perfect! Can’t wait to plan my next trip and stay at Dove Creek!
Dove Creek Resort and Marina is a beautiful, relaxing spot with a fantastic location that makes it easy to enjoy the surrounding area. The property has a laid-back, coastal charm, and the bedding was especially comfortable—definitely made for a great night’s sleep after a day out. The staff was attentive and welcoming, which added to the overall positive experience. There are a few minor things to note. In the evenings, there is a noticeable mangrove smell, which is natural for the area but worth mentioning for sensitive guests. Parking could use some attention, as a few vehicles blocked the end of the lot during our stay, which could make getting out difficult. The available kayaks were a nice touch, though a bit of light maintenance would make them even better. Overall, a wonderful stay with just a few small areas for improvement. I would absolutely return and recommend it to others looking for a peaceful waterfront getaway.
My wife and I stopped here on our way back from Key West on our anniversary. You can feel and see the age and wear on the place...like the front desk is on the 2nd floor and the elevator to it doesn't work. But the other elevators to the rooms do. Parking is very limited. But the employees are super friendly. The room we had was very clean and roomy and the bed was amazing. Even had a ceiling fan above the bed. Don't see that much in hotels. Big bathroom and shower. Pool was small but gave us what we needed...and a hot tub that's perfect when the breeze kicks in late at night. And both were open 24 hours. Nice. I believe it's family operated. There was a couple of guys who were running around constantly working on making improvements...they're trying. My wife left behind a pair of glasses she didn't need anymore and they called and asked if we needed them shipped to us. If we stay again in Key Largo, this will be the place. Sometimes it's not about the "bougie-ness" it's about comfort and the service.
We truly enjoyed our stay at this resort. Although we were only there for one night, we plan to return in the future and stay longer. Almost every room seems to offer a wonderful view. Our room was charming, with windows that overlooked the shallows and the blue ocean. The bed was comfortable, and the shower featured pleasant-smelling Tommy Bahama body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Breakfast was delicious, offering options such as waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, and more. The only protein option was hard-boiled eggs. Lazarus checked us in promptly and was very friendly. Upon check-out, we had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Andrea, who was very knowledgeable and courteous when we inquired about the kayaks and fishing poles available for guest use.
If I could give a zero I would. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Gross! The only thing saving the hotel is the location. When we checked in, we asked for a different room and were told it was full. Umm, not even close. The front desk said they would get back to us if a room opened. Never heard back. The room smelled like feet and was so damp. When it rained one night we found out why-the rain came in through the door. The rug was soaked. So nasty. The “breakfast” is some bread and coffee and there are plenty of free bugs. No one came to the room. We had to chase them down for toilet paper. The sheets are paper thin. Whatever you do NOT stay here! Save your hard earned money.
Rooms are clean and look nice. Being renovated for the past 2 years and it looks like it needs to be renovated badly still. They are renovating with very cheap materials. The Continental breakfast is worse than most. Don't count on there being coffee, silverware or bowls. Staff would rather not talk to you at all, almost as if they are trying to avoid everyone. They have an elevator but it has not been working for awhile and has caution tape. There is a pop vending machine but it does not work either. Outside the resort smells of sewage. However the view right on the water is amazing. I was never able to find the ice machine. If you can't do stairs then you should not stay here. The rooms are up 2-3 flights of stairs.
We are Floridians who go down to the Keys a lot. We normally always stay on the Bay side but this time because we had our grandkids with us, needed a larger space. Dove Creek was GREAT for this reason! The master bed was like a dream! The kids were very comfortable in the pull out sofa. Pool area is OK. Kind of cool that there’s a walkway right to Snappers which is a great restaurant. The view from the 3rd floor is breathtaking overlooking the Atlantic. Overall, a good place to stay
Nice location but the building and rooms need a complete renovation. Tile floor was filthy. I borrowed a cleaner spray and extra towels to wash the entire floor. The carpet in the bedroom was also very old and dirty, scary to walk on barefoot. AC was broken but we knew that before taking the room. Driveway/parking area is just dirt and get all muddy in rain. Loud squeaks from people walking one floor above, thin walls so we could hear everything from the room next door, smell from people smoking pot 2 rooms down the hall, no staff at night. Fire alarm forced us out at night and had to stand outside for over 30 minutes while firefighters were looking for any employees who are not there at night.
I would like to sincerely thank the manager for meeting us halfway and canceling our reservation. The hotel staff was truly incredible and very supportive. This wasn’t quite the kind of vacation we had in mind, as we enjoy walking and exploring, and this location is more secluded. The hotel was undergoing minor renovations, but it did not affect our stay. The room was very spacious, with a stunning ocean view, and the bed was large and extremely comfortable.
We only stayed for one night, but it was lovely and we had a great time. We stayed in mid-December 2025 and there was construction going on, but it wasn't bad and we didn't hear loud noises or anything. We stayed in a suite with a king bed (VERY comfortable!!) with a view overlooking the water. It was gorgeous and I got some great sunrise photos. We rented a jet ski next door, with a 10% discount. The restaurant and bar next door are lovely and we had a good time sitting at the bar. The staff were super friendly and helpful - they took care of us so well! I love that it's a quiet and quaint place with lots to do. It was a great place for us to relax during our trip.
