Bungalows Key Largo is a pristine, secluded resort praised for its tropical atmosphere, luxe bungalows, and attentive service. However, guests expect high-end value; experiences are often marred by aggressive tipping culture, inconsistent food quality, and significant privacy intrusions during cleanings.
Honey moon spot with just that wow to it All inclusive , right on the water and the staff was absolutely wonderful and go out of their way to make every detail special 1 1/2 away from Miami international airport And 2 hours from key west The restaurants were delicious And all the drinks you can have An outdoor shower and bath that are awesome and hard to leave Two different pools one that’s called zen and peaceful and one with more of a hanging out fun atmosphere Definitely recommend Definitely coming back 21 and over No kids !!! Super private, no one is allowed on property if not registered No cars allowed!! You walk everywhere or take one of the beach bikes that are available everywhere on property Absolutely wonderful experience
My husband and I recently stayed at Bungalows Key Largo and had a mixed experience. The property itself is beautiful, clean, and well maintained, but several service, communication, and consistency issues prevented this from being the relaxing, luxury experience we expected for the price. Before our stay, I did extensive research, including reading reviews and watching guest vlogs and YouTube videos, which largely portrayed the resort as a seamless, high-end, all-inclusive experience. While I understand online content can be curated, I think it’s important for future guests to know that the actual experience may differ from what is often presented. Pros: The resort grounds are undeniably gorgeous, peaceful, and very well maintained. One standout for us was bartender Kellie, who was excellent at her job, genuinely cared about guests, and consistently went out of her way to create a welcoming experience. She was truly a highlight of our stay. We really enjoyed the excursions booked outside of the all-inclusive package. The tiki boat ride with Captain Fred and the sunset cruise with Captain Greg were both fantastic, extremely well run, and memorable. We also booked massages, and the massages themselves were very good and relaxing. Some servers throughout the resort were attentive and kind. While service was inconsistent overall, there were individuals who clearly cared and did a great job. Cons: Despite being a non-smoking resort, both the lobby and our bungalow had a strong cigarette smell, which was surprising and unpleasant. The food was one of our bigger disappointments. Meals were generally mediocre and often felt rushed. While food is subjective, it did not meet the expectations set by our research or the resort’s branding. For context, I’ve personally had better dining experiences on cruise ships, which is my closest comparison to an all-inclusive setting. Regarding the spa, I’ve since read owner responses stating that the automatic 30% gratuity applies specifically to spa services and is disclosed on the website. While that may be the case, I did not receive a confirmation email when booking our massages and therefore was not clearly informed beforehand. As a result, the charge felt unexpected in the moment. Clearer communication during booking would help manage expectations. More broadly, the tipping culture throughout the resort felt aggressive and, at times, uncomfortable. While tipping is common in hospitality, the repeated and insistent nature of tipping expectations detracted from the feeling of a relaxed, all-inclusive experience. After reading other reviews, it appears this is a recurring theme rather than an isolated concern. Because of this, I do not feel the resort can accurately be described as truly all-inclusive. Housekeeping was another significant issue. There was no “do not disturb” option in our bungalow, and locked doors were not respected. We sadly experienced a serious privacy issue when housekeeping entered our bungalow without knocking during a private moment. When we attempted to address this with management, we observed the head manager see us approaching and then quickly leave the area rather than speak with us directly. While the assistant manager and housekeeping manager did apologize, the interaction felt tense and uncomfortable rather than reassuring. Reading a review from approximately nine months ago describing a similar issue was especially frustrating and suggests this problem is ongoing. Overall: Bungalows Key Largo is a beautiful resort, and parts of our stay were genuinely enjoyable. We would be open to possibly returning someday, but for the amount of money spent, guests should carefully consider whether the experience aligns with expectations set by marketing and online content. With clearer communication, more consistent service, greater respect for guest privacy, and better transparency around tipping and inclusions, the experience could better match the luxury branding.
Perfect vacation spot. We spent a full week at the Bungalows. It was relaxing and service was fantastic. The resort is all inclusive and it is definitely worth the time to check it out. Food on-site was delicious and service was excellent at every meal. Strongly recommend giving them a try.
When searching for a luxurious, all-inclusive honeymoon spot within the US, the options can be limited—but Bungalows Key Largo absolutely exceeded every expectation! We had the most wonderful, relaxing, and memorable time, and we are already dreaming of our next visit. From the moment we began the easy booking process to the second we checked out, our entire experience was fantastic. We felt genuinely cared for and pampered by the attentive staff. The atmosphere across the entire resort and in the beautiful bungalows was so peaceful and private, providing the perfect setting for us as newlyweds. For those who appreciate fine dining (and we certainly do!), the food here is truly exceptional. We dined at every restaurant and tried numerous menu items, and every single dish was among the best food we have ever eaten. It elevated the entire stay. The resort offers wonderful amenities, including fun activities each day and a beautiful onsite spa. We especially appreciated the incredible service we received while relaxing by the pool and during our nightly dinners. A huge thank you to Jasmine, Edlyn, and Ben! Your warmth and attentiveness made our honeymoon feel so special, and we truly felt spoiled by your fantastic service. We highly recommend Bungalows Key Largo for anyone seeking a top-tier, all-inclusive luxury escape.
What an amazing experience! This place makes you feel like you are on a tropical island. Every staff member we encountered greeted us with a smile and a hello/good morning/good evening. Everyone was very helpful and kind including the food service and wait staff. Our room was and clean and tended to twice a day. The daily and nightly entertainment was enjoyable with good quality musicians/singers. The whole resort is very cozy and the tropical landscaped gardens were the highlight. The cocktails were amazing, and my wife who doesn't drink was pleased that they even had a mocktail list as well as several non-alcoholic wines and beer. The outside dining was beautiful. We also loved the privacy of our room and the resort as a whole. We will definitely be back!
This place was everything I imagined it would be after years of researching it — absolutely stunning. The entire resort feels like a private tropical oasis, with lush foliage and serene pathways that make just walking around feel like part of the experience. The weather was perfectly Florida — a quick storm here and there, but it would always clear up into sunshine and blue skies again. Every restaurant we tried was delicious, and the staff truly made the experience. Navar and Jenna in particular were incredible — friendly, attentive, and so fun to talk to. My only wish is that the menus had a bit more variety. After a long day in the sun (and a few poolside drinks), some lighter or less rich options would have been great. Similarly, the drink program could use a little upgrade. The quality of the alcohol was good, but the mixers felt overly sugary. It would be nice if each restaurant had its own unique cocktail list or more refined options. I ended up just ordering off-menu most of the time. The rooms themselves were gorgeous and super comfortable — a perfect mix of luxury and relaxation. The outdoor shower was such a fun touch, even though ours could’ve used a little maintenance and stronger water pressure. The bedroom airflow at night also wasn’t the best, but it didn’t take away from the overall comfort. Overall, The Bungalows Key Largo lived up to the hype. It’s beautiful, peaceful, and romantic — an amazing getaway spot that we’ll definitely be talking about for a long time. Ps: Omeil the cart driver was so so soooooo funny. He was probably the most entertaining person on the property. & I would recommend advancing your properties overall music playlist. I swear I kept hearing the same 40 songs for 3 days. Could use a little more variety, or adjust it to the time of day/vibe. Wish it was a bit cheaper. Like $800 a night. I would consider going yearly ?.
My husband and I just stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary! We stayed in the bungalow! It was beautiful and CLEAN! Our outside private porch and soaking tub and outdoor shower were so nice! I like how they have it all closed off you feel like you’re in the Caribbean. Food was good! There’s two included restaurants. Nightly entertainment! We loved the woman Lee. She was very talented and had a vibrant personality! We did yoga two mornings in a row on beach and both yoga instructors were wonderful! We had a massage by the bay. That was wonderful! At night is so serene and beautiful! During the day you could relax by the Zen pool or the party pool! Loved the poolside service ! First time experiencing that! We didn’t know we should put do not disturb if you don’t want your room clean. When we came back, we noticed someone was in our room. We were a little alarmed , but it was OK. She was very sweet! I wish I remembered her name! She was very passionate about her job And respected the amount of money we pay to stay there so she was adamant about having a clean room for us. We had an absolute amazing time and did not want to leave!. Needless to say, we will be back and don’t hesitate, book your visit! Alicia was wonderful at the front desk very welcoming by the way! That definitely sets the tone for our trip. All the staff members were very friendly! You don’t wanna pay that kind of money and go to a resort where staff is miserable. You kinda get the feel of being miserable too, luckily, that was not the case here.. I can’t say enough good things about this place!
The property itself is beautiful and very well maintained, but unfortunately the food was a major disappointment. At $1,000 a night for an all-inclusive, we expected high-quality dining, but the meals were consistently low-quality, poorly sourced, and often inedible. By the third morning we couldn’t even face the breakfast buffet anymore—the bacon tasted reheated from days prior. On multiple occasions, we picked around our plates rather than finishing our meals. Drinks were also misleading—our mojitos were made with Sprite without our knowledge. While I understand all-inclusive pricing accounts for alcohol, there’s no way to get value here unless you drink heavily all day. The food itself tasted microwaved, watery, and flavorless, with piles of cheese masking the lack of quality. Even the “upscale” dining option (which was included with our four-night stay) was equally poor—we didn’t finish any of our dishes. The restaurants are beautifully designed and the property has potential, but the dining experiences left us uncomfortable. Some servers had language barriers that added to awkward interactions, particularly as two women traveling without men. In fairness, I think the average American traveler might enjoy the resort if expectations are kept low, but it’s marketed as upscale, and it is simply not. If you appreciate well-sourced, quality food, you’ll be disappointed. By the end of our trip, we chose to eat off-property at our own expense rather than continue with the included meals. Beautiful resort, poor execution on what should be a key part of the experience.
My husband and I just spent 4 nights at Bungalows Key Largo and we were so impressed! The resort made you feel like you were on a tropical island. The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. The food was amazing! Plenty of options for both land and sea lovers. You never left your table hungry due to the generous portion sizes. Drinks were always tasty and available! The service/hospitality was over the top! We seriously felt like royalty with the way we were waited on. Yes, the cost was a little higher than our normal vacations but it was definitely worth it!! We have already said that we need to make this a yearly thing!
The resort is beautiful and very well maintained. The rooms are thoughtfully designed, the grounds are immaculate, and there is noticeable attention to detail throughout the property. The staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming, and the food was very good. However, there were several disappointments that made our experience less than what we expected given the premium price point. My husband requires delivery of life-sustaining medical supplies, and we requested that the resort waive the per-package delivery fee, especially considering we were paying over $1,000 per night for our stay. Unfortunately, despite multiple requests and asking to escalate the matter, no accommodation was made. The only “solution” offered was to charge the same fee either as one lump sum or as multiple separate charges, which amounted to the same cost. I asked to speak with a manager but was never able to do so, and eventually communication simply stopped. This lack of compassion and unwillingness to accommodate a medical necessity was disappointing and not what I would expect from a resort at this level. It was also our anniversary trip, and while the setting itself was romantic, there were no special acknowledgements or touches to make the occasion feel recognized, which was surprising. Other considerations: while the property is lovely, there is not much to do on-site, and the entertainment felt limited and, at times, underwhelming. There is also quite a bit of tipping expected, and few non-alcoholic drink options available, which would have been nice to see. Overall, the Bungalows is a visually stunning resort with strong food and friendly staff, but the lack of sensitivity in handling medical needs and the missed opportunities to make a special occasion feel special left us disappointed.
