Coconut Mallory Resort offers a mix of friendly staff and newly renovated rooms, but guests frequently report serious hygiene issues, such as cockroaches, mold, and dirty floors, alongside frequent communication failures regarding refunds and deposits. While the marina location and various pools are praised, visitors often face unexpectedly high hidden fees and unreliable amenities like the air conditioning.
There were dead german cockroaches in the living room and kitchen upon arrival. As well they were running across the countertops. We left the place on time and followed the checklist out and we never got back our deposit. Every time we have called they hang up or put us straight to voicemail so we have not been able to discuss or talk about why we are not getting that back.
For my graduation trip the Coconut Mallory resort was a sweet quaint little get away in the FL Keys. The main lobby was oddly shaped and at the very back of the property, but there was an attendant and that's all that really mattered. They had a lot of papers for me to sign when checking in and chickens. Yes live chickens. The Check in was right next to the marina docs so the view in the mornings were beautiful. The rooms were well cleaned but had no soap, shampoo or a conditioner in the dispensers, but handsoap was placed in all the bathrooms. There were basic appliances in the kitchen stove, refrigerator, oven, microwave. My mother did notice little buggies on the coffee machine but we don't use those on vacation and they didn't get into any of our food. We simply moved the machine off the counter and cleaned. To specify no other ant- like bugs found in the rooms. Activates were accessible but you did have to pay the bike rental company a separate fee to unlock bikes already on property. We stayed during Thanksgiving so I believe our price was cheaper, $109 for a family of 5. Pool had great hours and extra toys for fun and they seemed to be still renovating at the time. There were also activities in the rooms, like fun puzzles and books. The kindest experience we had was the workers hosting Friendsgiving potluck. All guests were invited. The food was great and we got to meet other travelers and enjoy the marina. Such a heartwarming experience for the holidays. Overall the rooms, experience, hospitality, and chickens were worth the 3 1/2 hour drive out to the last island in the Keys. I would recommend this specific island for tourist spots and great bike paths.
A Hidden Gem in Key West! I recently wrapped up a weekend stay at the Coconut Mallory Resort & Marina, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From start to finish, everything was seamless and incredibly relaxing. The Highlights: Exceptional Service: The entire team deserves a shout-out. From management to housekeeping, everyone was professional, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. It’s clear that guest satisfaction is a top priority here. The Accommodations: Our room was clean, well-appointed, and the facilities felt very well-maintained. The amenities provided everything we needed for a stress-free island getaway. The Boathouse & Marina: This was easily my favorite part of the resort. It’s the perfect spot to kick back. Whether I was enjoying a quiet cup of coffee in the morning or unwinding with a drink during happy hour, the atmosphere at the marina is unbeatable. Location: Great positioning for exploring Key West while still offering a peaceful retreat away from the main hustle and bustle. Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a spot that combines great service with a classic Florida Keys vibe, this is it. I’m already looking forward to my next stay at Coconut Mallory!
IF YOU STAY HERE WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT CLOSELY FOR EXTRA CHARGES MONTHS LATER. I stayed in July was fine. The staff was friendly and the condo was clean. The nightmare started after our stay. The condo charged us for the parking fee and condo fee as we expected. They additionally charged us a cleaning fee we were told would be refunded as the condo was left clean without damage. Weeks later instead of refunding us the cleaning fee they charged our credit card additionally money. Over various weeks I worked with Jenny the manger who said she would take care it and did eventually refund the cleaning fee hold yet not the additional money the charged our card over a month later. She stated she did not see that charge on her end. The following week I left two messages and she would not call me back. So I called the general number a spoke with Kay. Kay said the charge was weird and that Jenny, the manger, had made the charge to my credit card (the same Jenny who said she did not know anything about it). She told me she would clear it up. She called the next morning and said Jenny had issued a refund. I waited 4 days for a refund - it has not shown up. I have now had to cancel my credit card number and have filed a fraud claim. IF YOU STAY HERE WATCH YOUR CREDIT CARD STATMENTS CLOSELY AS WEEKS LATER THEY WILL START CHARGING EXTRA MONEY AND WHEN YOU CALL ABOUT IT THEY GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND AND THEN STOP CALLING YOU BACK. What a sad scam that their workers are stealing form their patrons!
Terrible experience. Our room was 85 degrees because the A/C didn’t work, so we did not sleep well. We were told breakfast would be available on Tues/Thurs, but it wasn’t. One night the fire alarm went off and we had to stand outside for an hour. (I am the who had to call 911 since alarms were going off for over 5min). The next morning, a family member got stuck in the elevator for 25 minutes! Maintenance was very persistent and told us to NOT call 911 even though he has a heart condition. We requested a lower-level room due to physical disabilities and were still put on the 3rd floor. Only positives: location was good (about 2 miles from downtown), parking was fine, and the pools were decent. Everything else was a a huge disappointment. We would not stay here again.
Coconut Mallory was the BEST experience ever. Got there after hours, had our envelope waiting for us not only with the keys but with a note detailing all of our needs. Thanks so much Dave Smith & Jenny Eppy, my daughters 21st birthday vacation trip was beyond fantastic. The area by the office super tropical, cozy and colorful. This place is a hidden gem, the apartment felt like being at home, everything clean, all neat & comfortable. The common area was fabulous. We had a bbq right by our room super clean with gas & all. Enjoyed some burgers in the grill one of the afternoons. The pools super clean even had noodles & floaties, the hammock by the pool & the awesome bbq sitting area very colorful. A home away from home & life memories, thanks again David Smith & Jenny Eppy from our family ?
0 WORST PLACE EVER! DON'T BOOK. Manager is rude and literally yelling over the phone to nice front desk worker. The place was filthy. So many signs on this place we felt it was over kill and childish. Manager broke ADA laws too by refusing to give us keys because of my certified registered trained documented service dogs. We had given notice when we booked months ahead and she waited til day before check in to EMAIL, not call, to refuse dogs. We were already on the road! Then wants $500 to have them there so no dogs policy just goes away for money? Then we check in to filth. Pictures show all. The pool area was useless after sundown due to way too bright spot light too. YOU ARE WARNED, DON'T BOOK HERE!
Nice place to stay. Close to a very nice beach. Two nice pools. Everything was good except one day during our stay while we were getting ready. The water was turned off without telling us. We couldn't take showers. Had to use bottle waters to brush our teeth. I'm not sure how long the water was off. That, of course, was the one day we had something to do at a certain time. It was back on that evening when we got back.
Don’t waste your money here they will rip you off and won’t work with air bnb or even attempt to make things right. Black mold in the unit, cockroaches, feces stains on the couch, the floors were filthy and the place smelled like mold. They would even refund a percentage and I didn’t even stay!!! My family was in the room for 2 hours and left because of how bad it was! The people didn’t offer to fix this, and even with air bnb stepping in they wouldn’t help. I hope air bnb does something cuz they are scamming people
This resort was a transfer from another timeshare that my husband owns. Upon arrival at resort we were told that it would cost another 300.00 to stay at this resort. $150.00 for parking and another $140.00 for resort fees. We had flown from Massachusetts to Ft. Lauderdale and drove to the Keys so we did not have much choice but to pay this. Just saying it would have been nice if the resort had made this transparent. We alraedy pay maintenance fees and whatnot for existing timeshare. Water pressure surely left something to be desired and plumbing was broken on some fixtures. The resort also stated that they do not do towel exchange so what are the resort fees for?????
