Drift Hotel consistently receives positive reviews, praised for its beautiful waterfront location, clean rooms, and complimentary water activities like kayaking and paddleboarding. Guests appreciate the laid-back atmosphere and friendly staff, making it a well-regarded option in Key Largo. However, concerns regarding room cleanliness and a potential issue with pesticide use have been raised.
A gorgeous place to stay on the Keys! The rooms were very nice and clean, the staff was very kind and courteous, and the area by the water was gorgeous! Lots of amenities come with staying here like free kayak rentals to go out on the waters, grill by the ocean, and so on. Family friendly for the kids! And if the two of you want to get away as well. If your looking for a modern place to stay by the water with lots in the area to do, you found your stay in the Keys! I look forward to staying again!
We booked the Driftwood Hotel for our destination wedding, reserving rooms for our entire wedding party and guests, and we were blown away by the customer service, location, views -- everything. We contacted several hotels around Key Largo/Tavernier, and Tamara, (the manager we worked with) was able to give us the best deal. She also helped us so much with how to coordinate with our guests — after all, this was our first (and last!) time planning a wedding, so we felt a little lost. Tamara made everything as easy as possible and was incredibly accommodating whenever changes or questions came up throughout the process. The hotel itself was awesome — very laid back and calm. They have a small beach area with tiki huts, a dock, and complimentary kayaks, paddle boards, snorkel gear, and bikes. The views were incredible, with clear blue water looking into the backyard of the Everglades. My husband and I even saw a dolphin while kayaking! The staff was so friendly and helpful, and they surprised us with a delicious ice cream cake to celebrate our wedding. It's easy to miss driving down the highway, definitely a hidden gem in the area. We have already decided to come back one day so we can enjoy the area without a wedding taking up all our focus!
Beware! Updated to responded to the owners response. We did call, over a year later since we were originally told no expiration on our credit due to a NATURAL DISASTER. Being in the Keys I think you throughly understand! We reviewed our credit and a date we were considering. At the time NEVER were we told that there was an expiration… we would have figured out a date to use it had there been a time constraint. Again, on that conversation we were never told that we had to use by a certain time. Mind you this is over a year after cancellation. Seems to me they had no intention of honoring our hotel credit. Poor communication and poor management! Again, rethink booking this location as you may nit get truthful information nor get to use your credit. So many other hotels to visit so I would NOT give the business. Would give this 0 stars if I could. Poorly run management. We had to cancel a reservation years ago due to our area being a direct hit for a hurricane!! A natural disaster emergency. When we canceled they said they couldn’t refund since the hurricane was not affecting their area… Fine… credit it is. Of course we were not going to leave our home and our pets when we were having a hurricane warning and had to prepare, so we accepted the credit. When asked we were told that the credit would remain on our account until we used it, no expiration (I asked). Never told anything pertaining to an expiration date! Called to book, while the original booking/cancel was a few years ago we expected to have our credit since that is what we were told by their staff, BUT the woman said oh I see you had a credit but it was only good for 1 year! Excuse me? That was never mentioned when I specifically asked. So they just get to take our money for a service that was never rendered! Very poor business. Period again there’s so many other places To choose from. So choose wisely who you intend to give your money to because if an emergency happens, they just take your money and lie about offering a credit for a room you paid for.
Has a motel/campground kind of vibe but rooms are nice and clean. Free kayaks are a nice bonus and a lot of places to sit by the water. They ran out of towels and several guests were upset, but otherwise I enjoyed the stay.
The staff were super friendly with a laid back vibe. The room was spotless, and the shower was great. Loved that we had access to bikes, kayaks, and paddleboards for free & the beach area was beautiful. Really great atmosphere, would recommend to anybody.
Cute little spot in Key Largo. The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. Ours had a little kitchenette, which was convenient. Great seating area down by the water. Loved sitting out on the dock watching the water. My only Complaint would be that the cleaning products they use are very fragranced. Myself having sent issues it was difficult for me staying in the room. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
A great option! The staff is super chill and friendly. You can use kayaks, snorkels, and bikes upon request. There isn't a lot of sand to play in but plenty of water to swim in. There's a mangrove field around the corner to see on the kayaks. You can fish from the dock or snorkel around. Lots of fish to see. It's very convenient in location between Islamorada and North Key Largo. Lots of restaurants nearby. The bathroom is tiny and if you get a room with a couch, it's a fold down futon (not very comfortable). There is a kitchenette with a dishwasher, refrigerator, and microwave. They include utensils (which is awesome because taking food to go in surrounding restaurants don't give plasticware) I have been to many hotels around Key Largo and this one is in the top.
We loved our stay at The Drift Hotel in Key Largo! The property was very clean, with beautiful views that made it the perfect place to relax. We had such a great time paddle boarding and kayaking, and loved that it was included for free! The swings by the water were so peaceful and made the whole experience even more relaxing. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet, beautiful getaway in the Keys!
Awesome little hotel with it's own beach. Paddle boards, kayaks etc. All free to use. Super friendly and helpful staff. Not too much nearby, although Snappers for bar and food was about 10 minutes walk (I'm British) but you could drive ? Probably as reasonably priced as you'll get on the key. Rooms are amazing/modern with small kitchen etc. Highly recommend.
I had such an amazing experience here!! Luci was very sweet and helpful because it was my first time on island - she really helped us a lot!! We checked out 2 different spots before deciding to stay here. The room was IMMACULATE and I really liked the decor as well. Beautiful beach area. What a hidden gem!! I can't wait to come back!
