Recent reviews paint a mixed picture of the Faro Blanco Resort Marathon Florida Keys. While some guests praise the beautiful grounds, friendly staff (particularly at the Lighthouse Bar & Grill), and convenient location, significant concerns have been raised regarding inconsistent room cleanliness, unresolved maintenance issues (such as broken showers and lack of hot water), and frustrating customer service experiences, including delayed responses and staff rudeness. Notably, several guests reported issues with missing belongings and prolonged refund delays.
This is the worst experience we have ever had staying at a Hilton. We arrived at 2:30 room not ready, expected, then at 5:00 still not ready so they give us a new room, then our keys don’t work maintenance had to come which took 45 minutes. The next morning I go down for a cup of fresh brewed coffee and I had to pay for it, and there was a line with one young employee handling the counter. The manager had a lot of complaints about their rooms and service! The grounds are beautiful but being my first time at Faro Blanco resort and our last! We are Florida locals and never have experienced this especially paying the money to stay here!
After reading the hotel’s response, I feel they completely ignored the most serious issue of our stay. My grandfather had a separate room. After one night, we left for the day and returned to find that all of his belongings had disappeared, including his suitcase, clothing, toiletries, shaving equipment, and other personal items. We immediately reported this to the front desk. Instead of showing urgency, staff told us they would “check with housekeeping.” It was already around 1:00 AM, and since we were traveling with two children, we had no choice but to wait until the next day. The following morning, we were simply told that housekeeping denied knowing anything about the missing belongings. That was essentially the end of the investigation. We felt that nobody was taking the situation seriously and that staff treated us more like a problem than paying guests. We were also disappointed by the attitude we received throughout the process. Rather than helping us find answers, some staff members appeared dismissive and even suggested that we should call the police ourselves. Unfortunately, we were visiting from overseas and our flight was departing within a few hours, leaving us with very little time to pursue the matter further. This incident was on top of other problems we experienced, including mosquitoes in the room, stained towels, cleanliness issues, and generally poor customer service. What disappoints me most is that nearly a year later, we still have no answers about what happened to my grandfather’s belongings. The hotel promised to follow up, but nothing meaningful ever came from it. Losing personal property during a hotel stay is bad enough. Being treated with indifference afterward made the experience even worse. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this property.
Our stay at the Faro Blanco Resort Marathon, Curio Collection by Hilton was nothing short of spectacular, largely thanks to the incredible team on-site. • Warmest Welcome: From the second we walked in, the front desk team set the perfect tone for our vacation. Carlos was a absolute standout—his professionalism, warm greetings by name, and expert local suggestions made us feel immediately at home. • Top-Tier Leadership: It’s clear that the management at Faro Blanco, led by prioritizes guest satisfaction. The resort operates with a "family-driven" culture where the staff genuinely seems to love what they do, which truly trickles down into the guest experience. We understand why the property rates as high as it does. • Incredible Dining: Whether it was breakfast or dinner, the food at Lighthouse Kitchen + Bar was a highlight of our trip. The combination of stunning marina views, a clean and modern property, and a team that treats you like family makes this resort a must-visit in the Keys. We can't wait to return!
DO NOT BOOK THIS RESORT Our stay was supposed to be from 3/12-3/16 After checking in we went to get food which that’s about the only great thing about this place. After dinner and a long travel day, I wanted a hot shower. FORGET IT. Hot water doesn’t work, we contact the front desk they stated they were having issues and waiting on a part. “It will be fixed tomorrow.” Well the next day we went out and about to several different places made it back around 4:00 in the afternoon. Guess what, no hot water. Go to the front desk to address the issue and now it’s well it could be the middle of next week. So we chose to cancel the remaining reservation. Guess what it’s 4/1/2026 and I’m still waiting on my refund for the days we didn’t stay. All the while the front desk was STILL checking people in and not telling them that the hotel has no hot water. The day we checked in they did not have hot water and did not give us the option to choose if we were going to stay at that point. Shady business Still waiting on the refund….. but don’t worry they absolutely charged me for the parking pass and got paid for the first night we were there. Save yourself the headache and book literally anywhere else.
We had an impromptu trip to Faro Blanco last week for our spring break after our flight was cancelled to Costa Rica. The restaurant was amazing, drinks even better. They have pool side food and beverage service which was so nice with the kids as well as tons a green space for the kids to run and play. Every encounter with the staff was amazing, they were friendly and helpful especially Cassie. She is such an assist to that hotel, and I hope the owner knows it. We usually stay at Hawks Cay when we visit - they were booked with it being last minute. This place is comparable on a smaller scale with the amenities! Rooms were large and clean, and the robes were my favorite part! They also have a spa on site! defiantly give it a try!
We paid $1200 for 3 days without breakfast, the ice cooling machine in the hallway seems like it was never cleaned, our room wasn't cleaned to the standard, there was no toiletries when we checked in. The cleaning people come every morning at 830am, yelling in the hallway and having conversations with each other with absolutely no regards for hotel guests wanting to sleep. Front desk personnel acted like we were bothering him and rolled his eyes when we arrived. Definitely wouldn't recommend staying here for this price.
Sammi Jo at Lighthouse Bar and Grill is an absolute gem and the kind of bartender that turns a good night into a great one. From the moment you sit down, she makes you feel welcome with her warm personality, genuine smile, and spot-on recommendations. Her drinks are consistently fantastic—perfectly balanced, made with care, and always served quickly even when the bar is busy. What really sets Sammi Jo apart is her energy and attentiveness. She remembers faces, engages with guests, and somehow manages to make everyone feel like a regular. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual drink, a sunset cocktail, or a long night with friends, Sammi Jo elevates the entire Lighthouse experience. If you’re in Marathon, Florida, do yourself a favor and grab a seat at the bar when Sammi Jo’s working—you’ll leave happier than when you arrived. Lighthouse Bar and Grill is lucky to have her! ??
Beautiful location and a very clean, well-kept property. Unfortunately, the hotel was clearly understaffed during our New Year’s Eve stay. While the employees who were present were kind and hardworking, we went two days without room cleaning despite requesting service multiple times. I do want to specifically recognize George, the manager — he is absolutely this property’s greatest asset and the main reason guests would consider returning. He was consistently present, friendly, and doing everything possible to manage a very challenging situation. I saw him working long days, including New Year’s Eve, and back again the next morning. His dedication did not go unnoticed. This property has strong potential, but it needs adequate staffing support to bring it up to Curio standards. George cannot do it all alone.
This hotel is better than a cockroach infested hotel key west shack BUT not worth $650 a night. The front desk is actually at the back of the property. This is an old Hyatt. You might recognize that when you first pull up. We went three days without towels. We had no hot water. The room was dirty when we checked in. The couch is stained pink in places. The phone in the room didn't work - no wire to the wall. The caulk in the shower is coming loose. The water pressure is poor. There were no coffee pods in the room. There are lights burned out in the room. The water was better on day 3....hot water was up to 98F. The issue is that water needs to be 120F at a minimum to prevent legionella disease. Where are the pictures of the rooms when you book? You see the grounds....you see the restaurant. Ahh the rooms? It's a standard room you'd get at Hampton inn. We paid $2000 for three nights here. I do not recommend staying here unless you know what you're getting into. I will say that the manager, George, tried his best. He's making do with what he's got. But save him the hassle of having to hear your complaints and just don't stay here.
This hotel and marina are a gem. The hotel grounds are very well kept and everyone at the resort was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. Other guests were enjoying the pool or the seating areas located throughout. This resort has a marina view dining bar and grill with indoor and outdoor seating available. My wife and I booth mentioned the resort overall was more than we had expected and we look forward to returning!
