Despite receiving rave reviews for its beautiful grounds and friendly staff, guests report severe service and operational failures at Faro Blanco Resort. The property suffers from chronic understaffing, broken amenities, poor housekeeping, and impossibly low-paid or rude front desk personnel, rendering the high nightly rate difficult to justify.

We paid $1200 for 3 days without breakfast, the ice cooling machine in the hallway seems like it was never cleaned, our room wasn't cleaned to the standard, there was no toiletries when we checked in. The cleaning people come every morning at 830am, yelling in the hallway and having conversations with each other with absolutely no regards for hotel guests wanting to sleep. Front desk personnel acted like we were bothering him and rolled his eyes when we arrived. Definitely wouldn't recommend staying here for this price.

Sammi Jo at Lighthouse Bar and Grill is an absolute gem and the kind of bartender that turns a good night into a great one. From the moment you sit down, she makes you feel welcome with her warm personality, genuine smile, and spot-on recommendations. Her drinks are consistently fantastic—perfectly balanced, made with care, and always served quickly even when the bar is busy. What really sets Sammi Jo apart is her energy and attentiveness. She remembers faces, engages with guests, and somehow manages to make everyone feel like a regular. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual drink, a sunset cocktail, or a long night with friends, Sammi Jo elevates the entire Lighthouse experience. If you’re in Marathon, Florida, do yourself a favor and grab a seat at the bar when Sammi Jo’s working—you’ll leave happier than when you arrived. Lighthouse Bar and Grill is lucky to have her! ??

Beautiful location and a very clean, well-kept property. Unfortunately, the hotel was clearly understaffed during our New Year’s Eve stay. While the employees who were present were kind and hardworking, we went two days without room cleaning despite requesting service multiple times. I do want to specifically recognize George, the manager — he is absolutely this property’s greatest asset and the main reason guests would consider returning. He was consistently present, friendly, and doing everything possible to manage a very challenging situation. I saw him working long days, including New Year’s Eve, and back again the next morning. His dedication did not go unnoticed. This property has strong potential, but it needs adequate staffing support to bring it up to Curio standards. George cannot do it all alone.

This hotel is better than a cockroach infested hotel key west shack BUT not worth $650 a night. The front desk is actually at the back of the property. This is an old Hyatt. You might recognize that when you first pull up. We went three days without towels. We had no hot water. The room was dirty when we checked in. The couch is stained pink in places. The phone in the room didn't work - no wire to the wall. The caulk in the shower is coming loose. The water pressure is poor. There were no coffee pods in the room. There are lights burned out in the room. The water was better on day 3....hot water was up to 98F. The issue is that water needs to be 120F at a minimum to prevent legionella disease. Where are the pictures of the rooms when you book? You see the grounds....you see the restaurant. Ahh the rooms? It's a standard room you'd get at Hampton inn. We paid $2000 for three nights here. I do not recommend staying here unless you know what you're getting into. I will say that the manager, George, tried his best. He's making do with what he's got. But save him the hassle of having to hear your complaints and just don't stay here.

This hotel and marina are a gem. The hotel grounds are very well kept and everyone at the resort was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. Other guests were enjoying the pool or the seating areas located throughout. This resort has a marina view dining bar and grill with indoor and outdoor seating available. My wife and I booth mentioned the resort overall was more than we had expected and we look forward to returning!

Enjoyed my stay! The staff was extremely accommodating and super helpful. The property is very beautiful and quiet. Great views. Food was very affordable and tasted very good! There is a lot to do on the property. Rooms were clean and spacious. Would definitely stay again. If you are too high maintenance then maybe look else where but if you are interested in above average quality, this is the right spot!

I am writing to share my deep disappointment with my recent stay at your resort in Marathon, FL. I spent my birthday weekend there, expecting the kind of memorable service that Hilton is known for, especially as a Gold member, but unfortunately my experience fell far short. From the moment I checked in, the stay felt underwhelming. I mentioned to the front desk that it was my birthday, yet nothing was acknowledged or recognized — not even a simple card. As a loyal guest, I had also hoped for an upgrade, but that too was overlooked. The lack of effort left me feeling like my special occasion meant nothing. The condition of the room was another serious issue. As a pet-friendly hotel, I understand the challenges, but my room was simply not clean — dog hair throughout and long black hair on the sofa. When I asked to move rooms, I was told that wasn’t possible. Instead, a “VIP cleaning” was offered. In my view, every cleaning should meet that standard. While I appreciated the chocolates and apology note, it was disheartening that once again my birthday was not acknowledged at all. Service at the pool only added to the frustration. My children’s kids’ meals were supposed to include ice cream, which was never served. My pint of Guinness arrived in a cup that was only half full, yet charged at a premium price. To make matters worse, while we were eating, a staff member was painting a table right by the pool, filling the area with a chemical smell. This hardly created the atmosphere of a relaxing resort. And to top it all up, while we were in the pool a couple of people thought that it was OK to let a puppy dog swim in a tiny pool. The dog freaked out, which resulted in the dog scraping my daughters arm, which left a scar. To be fair, I must acknowledge the bright spot of our stay: a couple of your restaurant servers at dinner and breakfast were excellent and truly embodied the spirit of hospitality. But the larger issue is that the collective service culture at the resort did not reflect Hilton’s standard. I also work in hospitality, and I believe one of our highest callings is to create lasting memories for our guests. Unfortunately, the memories your team created for me and my family on this special weekend were not the kind I would hope for. Finally, after departure, I realized I had left my fast charger in the room. Despite calling immediately — and making four follow-up calls to reach the right person — I was assured it would be mailed back. A month later, I still have not received it, even though I live just 150 miles away. I trusted Hilton with my time, money, and most importantly my birthday celebration. Instead, I left feeling overlooked and let down. I sincerely hope you review my experience as an opportunity to improve your standards of service and guest care.

Nice room, friendly staff, perfect location. I was honestly surprised by how great this hotel was. The checkin process was a little confusing because reception was in a building behind the hotel, but everything else was wonderful. The staff was incredibly friendly and were interactive and kind to our children. The pool was never super busy. There is a cute outdoor area with fire pits, games, and hammocks. The location is spot on and is walking distance to the turtle hospital and is on a marina with an incredible snorkeling tour. This will definitely be our new go to Keys hotel.

From the moment I stepped into the lobby at Faro Blanco Resort, I was warmly greeted by Dwane with an espresso martini—such a great first impression! Since it was my first time staying, he took the time to show me a map to my room, which was spotless and very well-kept. The bar food was outstanding, and breakfast was just as delicious. Everything felt fresh and well-prepared. My checkout, once again with Dwane, was quick and seamless. Overall, the hospitality and service made my stay exceptional. I’m already looking forward to booking again!

The room was clean upon arrival, but we did not have room service for any of the three nights we stayed, despite having requested it. They did not provide enough towels for our family of five. It took us physically walking to the front desk to finally get enough towels because when we tried calling the front desk from our room, our phone was not connected. We called from the elevator lobby phone and they sent maintenance up, but we were told that the counter top was installed before the phone was connected and therefore nothing could be done about it. Cell service in the room was poor. What if we had an emergency? Common corridors were not air conditioned. They have a coin operated washer and dryer, but did not sell laundry detergent, even at the front desk. The location has a nice view. The pools were adequate.
