Deer Run on the Atlantic is a peaceful and beautiful Key West retreat surrounded by nature, specifically known for its Key deer sightings and tranquil atmosphere. Guests consistently praise the friendly hosts, delicious breakfasts, and convenient access to both island activities and the ocean. It’s a great option for those seeking a quiet escape and eco-conscious travel.
This is lovely place to stay - so peaceful, beautiful and quiet. I didn't want to go to Florida to party and be stuck in traffic so this was perfect. It's a reasonably short drive to Marathon for tours and activities and the breakfast they provide is out of this world! It was large enough to cover a light lunch for us and we could grab dinner close by or on our way back from Marathon. Honestly, Jen should write a cookbook - I would definitely buy one!!! You can take one of their kayaks right across the street to explore the mangroves and see all sorts of nature. The deer wandering through the property was an added plus.
We had a Wonderful stay! Loved getting out on the kayak and was greeted by a sea turtle almost immediately! The accommodations were clean and tidy, and I really enjoyed the decor. The breakfasts were fresh and unique and yummy. We loved walking the beach and seeing the Key Deer. We learned a lot about turtles and how to help them survive. We appreciate the loving care and effort that Harry and Jen put into this place. It was a great place to start 2026! Thank you!
What an amazing experience. Key deer everywhere, wonderful breakfasts included, and optional lunches for a reasonable fee. My wife and I had a wonderful time, and we highly recommend visiting Deer Run on the Atlantic. The hosts Jen and Harry were wonderful and accommodating. We brought our two small dogs and they had as much fun as we did.
We had the best time at the Deer Run! Jen and Harry are wonderful and they are going above and beyond. The food is outstanding! The breakfast was usually a wrap, burrito, or sandwich, with a side, a sweet treat, and a smoothie. There is also the option to eat lunch there. The bed and breakfast is pet friendly and our dogs got freshly made vegan treats every day. We loved everything about this place and we will be back.
Great location right on the water and South facing so you get both sunrise and sunset views from the property. Very quiet location with Key Deer running through the property. Harry and Jen are fantastic hosts and provide breakfast and lunch if you need it. It was a great base camp for exploring the lower Keys, especially Key West.
This place is super cool. My wife and i stayed here several years ago. I forgot to write a review. Owners were so nice. Food was good. Location is perfect. Close enough to key west for "big city" stuff. But far enough to enjoy a very florida keys experience. Key deer are the cutest. The young make a quiet meh noise. Biting nats will get ya in the morning and evening but thats island life! Quiet road to run and bike on. Water is undisturbed for snorkeling. Ospreys land on the trees on the property. Only a 10-15 minute drive to another island with a really nice beach. Big pine key has 3 pickleball courts as well, if you like to play. You should definitely rent a room here!
We love Deer Run on the Atlantic so much we actually got married there. Jen & Harry did a wonderful job helping us coordinate someone to marry us and a photographer. She even made us a cake! I think if I could cook vegan like Jen can I would 100% be vegan. The rooms are decorated in an environmentally thoughtful manner and the breakfast was sooo good. It’s a destination for those who want to enjoy what the Keys used to be like. Close enough to Marathon and Key West for day trips … a nice quiet place to stay away from the masses surrounded by beautiful scenery and Key deer.
This is a great getaway after a busy few days in Key West. Very quiet, remote, and the innkeepers were kind and accommodating. The deer would hang around at night and it was fascinating watching them by the sea, we have lots of deer at home but not the size of dogs! The room was great and ours had a screened porch which was nice to read from. Breakfasts have changed since Covid, they are muffins and scones and oh so good! They have kayaks which we took from the ocean to the bay behind, recommend looking out at the bay first so you'll know what to look for to get to the house, we had to turn around and just come back by ocean. If you want peace and just hanging out in the sun, this is for you!
We stayed here for a long weekend and really enjoyed ourselves. Our room was very clean, it had a cute little fridge and balcony. There are plenty of places to relax inside and outside. We took advantage of the kayaks and the large jacuzzi, but they also had bicycles available. Coffee, juice and/or a smoothie and a really delicious vegan breakfast are served between 7 and 8:30AM. Since we brought our little dog they also had homemade treats for her in the morning that she absolutely loved. Every evening we saw deer as they walked through the beach or down the street. Harry and Jen are great hosts and very nice people. Everything from the coffee cups to the bedding are eco friendly. They also sell several different items ranging from reef safe sunblock to beach towels to hand-stamped jewelry. Some of the proceeds are donated to Save-A-Turtle of the Florida Keys and others. We really loved our stay here and would stay here again in the future ?
