Hawks Cay Resort offers a beautiful setting and a variety of activities, including dolphin encounters and multiple pools. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistent service, outdated facilities in some villas, and issues with cleanliness and maintenance. While some guests praise the staff and overall atmosphere, others express concerns about value for money and operational shortcomings.

First visit to Hawks Cay Resort this past weekend was amazing! From the moment we drove to the resort and walked through the property everything was beautiful! The staff opened the doors for us and greeted us with welcomed smiles. The rooms are spacious, shower is incredible and definitely enjoy the robes after a long day in the sun. The outdoor area is beautifully landscaped with a salt water lagoon and the 2 pools, there are a lot of fun activities too. Most importantly is the backdrop of the Florida Keys where the blue green ocean waters kiss the Keyzie blue sky and you witness the most spectacular sunsets and sunrises. All this and more make this a place you absolutely want to stay with someone you love, it's great for couples, families, solo trips, girls getaway, guys trip. This will be my new "home away from home"!! Becky- Daytona Beach

Visited here for a work conference. Overall the resort is ok. Extremely overpriced, breakfast sandwiches and coffee at the café in the main lobby. For example, for a regular breakfast sandwich and a coffee over $20 for one person. The service between the main lobby café and pool varied by day. The café had major delays, although it was early in the morning. The pool food was not terrible. I feel like for what they’re charging nightly for this hotel/resort service should be much better than what it actually is; overall, the hotel seems to not be upkept. I went on a Sunday to Thursday and they held over $200 a night for a hold. Everything is pretty spread out in the hotel so if it’s raining one of the days, it will become difficult to move around anywhere to different parts of the resort. I was in the room by the elevator and every night there was many bugs by the elevator door. The carpet in the hallway was dirty with crumbs and garbage the entire stay. Several of our pillows were stained and so was the bedding.

We stayed at at townhouse/vila the kitchen in general was HEAVILY worn, sliding glass door must have been OG was so old and nasty, the paint thru out the house was is poor condition needed a repaint BAD. shower door would not close it was the wrong size, The WIFI is pretty much unusable I had several friends staying in rooms and other vilas all said the same thing WIFI was just total garbage. In todays times having good WIFI is a must have. The In general the place was not worth the premium you pay. The common areas were fairly nice pools and outside bars. We had a issue with housekeeping we had called the day prior to schedule a cleaning but nobody showed up at the time we wanted it. We called a total of 6 times thru out the day to get it done and all they kept saying yes your in the system they will be there. I even talked to a manger at 9PM asking where house keeping was and they said they were gone for the day. I find that odd a resort like this and the money you spend to stay here and they dont keep housekeeping on property 24/7 is very poor CS. The manager said i can give you sheets for the bed but i have no one to take them to you again crazy bad CS. Eating on the property be ready to spend money and wait a long time for your food 50 dollars a plate before drinks BUT we expected that. Went off property all but 1 night local places much more down to earth with prices. The Marina is expensive also 60 dollars to use the boat ramp each way. Slips are way overpriced also. And fuel was off the charts expensive I get it you have to make enough to runs the equipment and keep it all up but their is a limit and they were well above that. I went elsewhere for fuel.

So this resort was completely restored and renovated after multiple hurricanes and yet it still shines on. Our room was upgraded to a junior sweet for our Anniversary and the views were spectacular! However, the "suite" was very outdated and the artwork was so bizarre?! We made it work and were hardly ever in our room but I expected a little bit nicer to be considered a "suite" and the LOUDEST AIR CONDITIONER in history. We could barely sleep. It sounded like a jet airplane and even though it was loud it worked and kept our room very comfortable. We were on the fourth floor and the most gorgeous views ever. We overlooked the Serenity pool (adults ONLY) which is a plus. They also have a lagoon pool and a large accomodation for children in the main pool. Now, the most important thing, the staff, very nice and polite. Opening your doors, always wanting to please. We met the most wonderful staff member named Emily who gave us the best service we have ever experienced at this resort. We will never forget meeting her as she is the most welcoming, personable professional staff member and so much fun! Spreading sunshine wherever she is, how lucky Hawks Cay is to have found such a lovely person to represent and serve the bar areas. I noticed that she was interacting with her coworkers and guests and always smiling. Can't say enough about this Resort, even though it has changed over the years, the hospitality is the finest and isn't that what every resort should be like? If you're looking for the perfect place, come to the fishing capital of the world and you won't be disappointed.

????? Just wrapped up another incredible stay at Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Key for the Grouper Season Opener event, and I can honestly say this year was absolutely phenomenal. Huge credit to Simon for putting this event together for the second year in a row — and somehow making it even bigger and better than last year. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was outstanding. Simon went above and beyond to make sure everyone had an amazing experience, and it truly showed in every detail of the event. The entertainment was extraordinary, the atmosphere was electric, and the entire weekend was first class from start to finish. The marina looked fantastic as well — all of the upgrades appear to be completed, everything was fully functional, and the entire property felt polished and dialed in. We stayed a few extra days at the resort and absolutely loved it. The pool and hot tub were perfect, and the oceanfront views are simply breathtaking. Sitting there looking out over the Atlantic felt like staring at a painting. You truly could not ask for a more beautiful setting. Hawks Cay continues to impress, and Simon’s leadership and hospitality made this event unforgettable. Already looking forward to next year!

I will start with the positives. The resort in general is very beautiful. The pool is well kept & restaurants etc are quite nice. The keys in general are beautiful & serene. I would not say it is too far from Marathon which is a big hub. Key Largo to Key West is over a 2 hour drive so there is not going to be any location that will be close to everything. The food is good, perhaps a tad over priced. No room service. The bad. We stayed in one of the little houses with it's own pool. What I did not realize as it is not adverised is that the resort does NOT own the houses it rents out. It instead acts as a rental management company to the home owners, think airbnb but access to the amenities. They also are responsible for cleaning it but it is only cleaned for your arrival. They state you can ask for an extra cleaning if you request it 24 hours in advance, we did & no one ever came, ever. Our little house was quite dirty. There was toothpaste smeared on the bathroom door, small pieces of trash all over the front garden area, sticky cabinets, & the floors were FILTHY. We had to wash our feet each night before bed, even after showering & not leaving the house because they were black. We ran out of toilet paper & had to use tissues. It's almost impossible to reach the front desk by phone. It is definitely outdated. I'm sure each houre is different so just depends on which one you get. Ours had a super uncomfortable couch, falling apart deck furniture, stained pillows, a mattress that was super stiff, etc. It's a great choice if you are traveling with kids. If you are alone as a couple then would not recommend.

The premium 2 bedroom villa at hawks cay was fantastic. So spacious with a big wraparound screened in that was so fun for dinner. The staff was all accommodating, fun and professional. Kids activities, kayaking and a sunset boat cruise were great- the boat captains and activity staff were so fun! The secret spot that we loved was the sunset village pool- beautiful views, clean, warm water and quiet. My kids (3&6) had plenty to do onsite, despite the coral cat splash pad being closed. The grounds were immaculate and the food was great (other than at angler and ale- don’t recommend that place at all). We loved hawks cay!

Beautiful setting, but the experience does not match expectations. We booked this property expecting a true resort-quality experience for our family, and unfortunately it didn’t deliver. The biggest issue was the atmosphere and service. Staff interactions felt transactional rather than welcoming, with no proactive engagement. Our villa was never serviced, and the room was outdated and did not match the photos — loud AC, small showers, and basic bedding. It felt far below resort standards. Food and beverage were also disappointing. The Pilar Bar was never open, the café closed at 5 p.m. (no evening coffee), and some amenities were unavailable without notice. The pool, lagoon, and sunshine were the saving grace — our kids (6 and 8) had a great time. But for the price, there are far better family-friendly resort options in the Keys.

I cannot say enough good things about this Resort. Our family visited this past holiday weekend and it was an absolutely perfect getaway. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa that had been recently renovated. Our family was a little disappointed that the kids area was closed for renovation, however, the staff did a great job providing additional things for kids to do. Petting zoo, magic show, bounce houses, it was fantastic! The Resort was lively, clean, and all around a great experience. There was an issue in our villa with one of the appliances, however, the owner relations team - Melissa, Lissa, and Corla addressed quickly and professionally. They updated us throughout the process and checked back to ensure everything was great and we were enjoying our stay. I especially liked how they gave us options to choose from as they didn't want to interrupt our vacation although they wanted to ensure the issue was addressed right away. I have never stayed at a Resort that showed so much communication, follow through, and professionalism. We will definitely be back once the new water park opens up!

Everything is amazing except the tiki grill kitchen. We at the bar mostly and our bartending Jacob he is an amazing guy. He took care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. And the drinks were great. The only issue was the tiki grill kitchen. We order food and waited almost more than an hour. We order hummus and a wrap. The only reason I give the 5 stars is because of Jacob's hospitality. The kitchen should be fixed and we have had better at other resorts.
