The Island City House Hotel offers a unique and charming stay in the heart of Key West, blending historical character with modern comforts. Guests consistently praise the hotel’s beautiful grounds, excellent housekeeping, and convenient location, while also noting the well-equipped kitchen spaces and tranquil atmosphere. While some guests mention potential noise concerns, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive.
Super stoked to have found the Island City House Hotel ! We stayed at the Cigar House which offered a King room with separate living room and kitchen. Great bathroom, porch overlooking the pool with patio chairs and hammock. This is def my new place to stay down here in Key West. Centrally located, the entire property has 3 or 4 big properties with a ton of plants, flowers, and so much more. No breakfast but they offer a $5 coupon to the local bakery. The unit had a kitchen so it was all good. Good crowd of people, more chill, but what a great escape. My wife loved it. ! Thanks Island City House.
This place is magical! From the moment I stepped in until I left it was everything I needed and then some, you feel the history and yet it has all the comforts of home! Great bathroom and kitchen and the double doors to set out to your balcony with a hammock was just exceptional! The bed was comfortable also! Thank you to all the employees everyone was fantastic! Looking forward to coming back!
My wife and I just finished a 3 night stay at Island City House and we can’t recommend this hotel enough! Check in/out process was super quick and smooth. The location of the hotel is close enough to Duval that renting a car/bike/golf cart/whatever isn’t really necessary if you plan staying towards the northern end of Key West. I would absolutely recommend renting transportation if you’re going to the southern end and especially if you’re going to be swimming. We stayed in the Arch House Queen Porch room. The room itself was on the smaller side and the porch is shared with a neighboring room, but that wasn’t an issue for us. Of all hotels I’ve stayed at, this one was by far the cleanest and most well kept up with. In our room and on the grounds, nothing was broken, missing, dirty, or otherwise unsightly. Speaking of, I’d like to specifically talk about the housekeeping for a second. The housekeeping in this hotel in my opinion is unmatched. In our room we had a small kitchen with a fridge, range, and several dishes included mugs, plates, pots, pans, etc. Every day that we left the room and came back later the dishes would be clean, the bed would be made, the bathroom towels would be refreshed, and any coffees or teas we used in the kitchen would also be replenished. After a long day of walking, swimming, eating, and bar hopping, coming back to a spotless room was an unreal experience. The pool was also lovely. Again on the smaller side but not an issue for just the 2 of us. Plenty of lounge chairs around the pool and a table with chairs and an umbrella if you need the extra space. Overall this was a near perfect experience and I would 100% recommend staying here, especially for couples! Close proximity to amazing restaurants and bars, unmatched housekeeping, beautiful room and grounds, what more could you ask for in Key West?
The rooms are beautiful and the property is gorgeous! You walk in this place you would never know you were in the heart of key west! The grounds are full of lush vegetation and fountains. We appreciated the small kitchen in the room, the extra sitting room outside the bedroom area and the hammock on the balcony….which was perfect for an afternoon nap. Didn’t expect the room service but absolutely appreciated it! She was always asking if we needed anything! We stayed in room 3 in the Arch House…would definitely stay here again.
A true gem in Key West! The Island City House is a home away from home. I stayed in the Cigar House. The room has a great setup with a king bed in the bedroom with pocket doors to separate it from the rest of the suite. There is a combination full kitchen, dining area, and living area. This room was so comfortable. They think of everything for make this home away from home. The room is stocked with salt/pepper, silverware, glassware, coffee cups, cooking supplies and utensils. I would enjoy making my coffee in the Keurig and setting either on the porch or by the coy pond with the water feature. I don't remember. The las time I was this relaxed. Since they supplied wine glasses so could enjoy wine on the porch or by the coy pond. And the housekeeping, Abigail, was a true delight. The Cigar House is in the middle of the complex so you are not distributed but road noise. I cannot wait to come back. I already booked next year!
This place is different in a very cool way. The lay out of the property is interesting. I enjoyed the pool and the balconies. The main office staff was pleasant and helpful.
Be awear: poor sleep quality here due to very old squeaky floors :-( I would love to rate this property higher but 2* is the maximum. All 3 nights were a real torture for me, light sleepers be swear. After the 2d night I went to the office and asked to move us to the 3d floor but was given an answer our room type was unavailable there. So until you are placed on top floor you will hear your neighbors upstairs, sometimes all night long as many people come to party to KW. The young man on reception was very nice (first 2 days), the older one was pretty rude (he laughed in my face when I complained about the sleep quality on the 3d day). Beside this, the property is beautiful with lush gardens, nice warm pool, located in beautiful old town (that was our favorite part) close to most noticeable locations. Considering everything I would stay somewhere else in the old town, one floor or in a newer property.
We stayed three nights as a family of five. The location was perfect - quiet, a walk away from everything but not smack in the middle of it. The space was great inside and out. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and such, the porch was wonderful. Have zero complaints or unfulfilled wishes. Plan on returning someday in the future. 10/10.
We only spent one night at this beautiful accommodation, but it left a lasting impression. The first thing that caught our eye was the stunning garden — lush, peaceful, and full of charm. It felt like a hidden oasis where time slowed down, inviting you to relax and breathe. The house itself was immaculately clean and filled with character. Every corner seemed to tell a quiet story, and there was a subtle scent of history in the air — not old or dusty, but warm and authentic. The blend of historical touches with modern comfort created a unique and welcoming atmosphere. The location couldn’t have been better. Everything was within walking distance — whether you wanted to explore local sights, find a good restaurant, or just wander through the area, it was all just a few steps away. Even though our stay was short, we felt completely at ease. It’s rare to find a place that manages to combine beauty, comfort, and convenience so effortlessly. We would love to return for a longer visit and soak up more of the peaceful atmosphere this place offers. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a charming and relaxing getaway.
The perfect little getaway spot! Beautiful atmosphere and just a short walk to restaurants and nightlife. The front desk staff, especially Annette (apologies if I got the name wrong), was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend!
