The Tropical Inn consistently receives positive reviews highlighting its excellent location, friendly and attentive staff, and a tranquil, private atmosphere. While some recent reviews noted issues with room upkeep and responsiveness regarding maintenance, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, particularly regarding service and location.
We had an amazing stay at this hotel in Key West. Everything was perfect—very peaceful, clean, and relaxing. We truly had an incredible time and enjoyed every moment. The lady who welcomed us was so kind, attentive, and welcoming, which made our experience even better. You can tell they really care about their guests. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Key West!
My wife and I had a great time at this cute Inn on Duval. It is surrounded with everything that you want and need. The rooms are fantastic and they have a great pool
At a price of over $800 for one night, this is what we got at Tropical Inn: a room with a broken air-conditioner, broken faucet, stripped shower knob, a chair you couldn't sit in it was so slippery, and grocery store packaged items for breakfast. Pitiful. The front desk lady on March 6th obviously was miserable with her job. No good morning. No smile. She couldn't even make eye contact. Breakfast was a joke for a guesthouse that charges $800+ for one night. They leave you a sheet of paper with about 10 items on it. Bagel, yogurt, cereal, banana, hard boiled egg, etc. All prepackaged grocery store items. Once you decide what you'd like, you are instructed to call the front desk and tell them what you'd like. The lady who picked up the phone wasn't maid services. It was the same grumpy front desk lady who couldn't even crack a smile. She took our order, asked if there was anything else, we replied "No thank you," and she didn't say another word after that and hung up on us. How rude. Check out time is at 11. At 10am, yep, the same crabby front desk lady came knocking on our door. I answered. She said, "Just checking to see if you were still in your room" and turned her back and left. At 10:45, same thing. Crazy. It wasn't even 11. Why did she keep coming knocking on our door to see if we were still there? This time there was a maintenance guy with her. She left, but he stayed and sat in a chair by the pool. About 3 minutes later we were finally ready to leave. He seen us leaving and got up and headed to our room. He was friendly and chatted with us for a bit. Impressive. Someone friendly finally! He told us that he was there to fix the air-conditioner. We both looked at each other and said to ourselves, "They knew about the broken a/c and never said a word to us?" How did they know it was broke? Mrs. Sassy Pants never gave us the time of day to explain our room imperfections. We weren't given the option to go to another room where the a/c did work or go to another guesthouse. Instead, we had to suffer with the extreme heat all night long. We barely got any sleep! Luckily, we did find a fan in the closet that did provide a little comfort. The guesthouse is unmanned after 5pm. So, there's nobody to talk to when issues arise. You have to wait until the morning to talk to someone. Even if there was an afterhours number to call, we did not feel it was an emergency enough to have someone come out at 2am to fix the a/c. We're understanding guests. Anyhow, I digress. He then said he was going to fix it the day prior, but had to wait. Really? I'm mean, seriously? WOW! Granted, it wasn't his fault, but why did they make him wait? We're both livid now. When we went to check out, the same unprofessional front desk lady again didn't smile or say good morning or ask us how we enjoyed our stay. Instead, she said "Leave the keys on my desk" and hurried away. We never even got to mention the broken room fixtures or why maintenance had to wait to fix our a/c. We waited around for a bit so we could talk to her, but apparently she vanished and was never seen again. More and more I'm noticing these guesthouses in Key West are hiring the most wretched and irritable staff. Prices are soaring. Services are basic and minimal. And then they even tack on laughable resort fees for basic things like use of pool, cable TV, coffee & tea, wifi, and even so-called concierge services. Isn't that standard with most hotels these days? The $800+ we spent on this room for one night was truly robbery. Visible, in-your-face robbery. I'm just ever so thankful we only booked Tropical Inn for one night. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. I can assure you this much, NEVER AGAIN TROPICAL INN!!!
This is our second stay with the Tropical Inn. We come every February, last year we stayed at The Almond Tree Inn. We love the location and the "private" escape in the back of the resort with a pool and hot tub. It is very quiet and relaxing. The breakfast is served to your room and is wonderful. The staff is also awesome and friendly. It has been a couple of years since our first stay, and I will say that a few things could be improved. The mattresses are bouncy and lumpy and the pillows are bad. The carpet in the resort is tired as well as some paint, curtains and other fixtures could use a refresh. Just a little more attention to detail would make all the difference in the world! Aside from that, we will be back!
How is this rated three stars?? The location is prime! The boutique rooms are perfect! Mornings are made special with Tom the rooster calls right at your front door!!! A for sure take away memory & a Convenient rooster shop right next-door… So perfect perfect!!! I can only speak for the Takeaway suite, but the bed was perfect so so comfortable! The bathroom, super clean love the new clean high-rise tile throughout the bath! Love the breakfast delivery to your front door choices and although right on the main strip, the rooms are quiet and private!! I’ve stayed at the most expensive room in The Mansion…but now this is going to be home away from home in the Keys?? - Thank you Brandy…
5 stars all around! The staff were friendly and beyond helpful, the location is PERFECT, the pool and hottub area are private and quiet. My bed was so comfy, and room was clean. You really do feel like a VIP guest while you’re there. I highly recommend and will be retuning.
I stayed here last weekend and the experience was absolutely spectacular. The receptionist gave exceptional service, she was so welcoming and professional. I enjoyed it so much that I came back again this weekend to the same hotel. Highly recommended 100%
Amazing place to stay!! The inn is super close to everything you could possibly want to eat or see. The hosts were accommodating and honestly felt like we were at home ??? Pool and hot tub were amazing as well. Just be prepared for off premise parking.
My husband and I stayed at the Tropical inn for our honeymoon. It was exactly what we were looking for, intimate and relaxing. The garden/pool area is hidden beneath beautiful trees and plants. Our room was simple and had all the amenities you would need. Reception was helpful, courteous and kind. We would recommend this location to anyone looking for an intimate oasis with front door access to shopping, restaurants and nightlife.
We loved the Tropical Inn! Brandi provided exceptional service. She was very kind and helpful with all of our questions. The location was perfect for us, too. It was on the quieter end of Duval Street. The back area was serene and well kept. The hot tub was perrrrrfect after a long day of walking. We will def be back!
