The Laureate Key West consistently receives positive feedback regarding cleanliness, spacious rooms, and friendly staff. While some guests appreciate the location and amenities, concerns have been raised about noise levels, occasional cleanliness issues, and a lack of advertised amenities like a shuttle service. Overall, it's considered a good value for the area.
We had a wonderful stay at The Laureate. The rooms were very nice and comfortable, though the bathrooms run a bit on the smaller side. We loved the view from our room. The pool area is a little small and does not have lifeguards on duty, but it was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. Housekeeping did a fantastic job, and the entire staff was incredibly courteous throughout our visit. Another huge plus is that there is ample parking available. Overall, a great place to stay in Key West!
Ok. Having just returned from a trip to the keys and a stay at the laureate here is my honest thoughts. The price is average for KW and there is a daily resort fee on top of the room rate, not sure they advertise that so check. The check in process is straight forward and quick with CC and the charges are explained so no surprises at check out. There is uncovered regular parking as well as parking underneath the hotel which I recommend as daily pop up showerea do happen. The room I stayed in was very clean, had plentybif towels and was set up as an efficiency with a small 2 burner (electric stove with pots/ pans dishes, glasses, mugs, dishware and a Keurig coffee maker that comes with 3 pods of coffee and tea along with packets of cream and sugar. Has 2 large TV's, one in the front portion of the room and naturally the bedroom. T.V service was basic but had a couple premium stations to watch movies. Wonderful A/C which feels great when returning from being outside enjoying KW. The pool and pool area was very nice and relaxing to lay out and has nice size towels to use rhatcare available in the pool area. There is street noise as it's right on US 1 but cannot hear it in the bedroom. Walls are solid concrete and thick so no intrusive noise was heard during my stay. Only thing to mention and it's not the hotels fault is the water pressure in the shower has a lot to be desired. Pretty weak but does have very hot water so be careful. The location I feel is good as it's a 5-10 min drive to Duval street and all the things to in KW generally. So over all, a nice reasonably affordable place to stay and would return
The lady who checked us in was super helpful. Ai had told me there was a shuttle. That's not true, but it's not on the hotel, as their site didn't say that, just Ai. There is a stop across the street we were told about for the key west rides. We decided just to drive our own SUV everywhere We liked the room when we checked in. I did clean up some black stuff on the rear of the kitchen counter when we arrived. The room had an actual freezer that we needed instead of just a fridge that no other place we booked in the Keys had. It also had a micro and toaster with the Keurig and it was a good size suite. The location is farther away from the main things to do but that also means parking isn't as big of a pain as it is down near Duval. You do park under the hotel which was nice and the parking did not feel tight. Part of the hotel does block the water, as does do the signs and street lights. The blackouts shades did a good job of blocking out the outsides lights on the hotel that stay on. We heard a little road noise but it wasn't bad. The view, after paying for ocean front was a little disappointing as you're looking over buildings, by signs, with lights and the road. Also, no sunrise unless you looked past the car sign to the east and sunset was at the edge of the hotel. Technically, you could see both and they did honor my request for an upper floor which was nice. All this would have been a mostly positive review until in the next morning when there was a roach in my coffee cup that had been rinsed and left out on the kitchenette counter. Another annoying thing happened twice. The phone dial tone alarm went off and woke us up at 10pm and again at 6 am. I told them about the the 3 issues and they just said they'd make a note. That was it. Not thrilled to see the roach in my coffee cup, having to clear up some black stuff /debris along the back of the kitchen counter top and being woken up by past guests phone alarms. We saw no bugs in any of our other Keys stays and no other place had the black deposits on the counter. We have never had a phone alarm be an issue anywhere. It looked so nice when we walked in the room to be let down by those issues. It was roomy, the bathroom was large and the staff was very nice.
I always forget to write reviews but it was easy to remember doing one for our stay at the laureate! This place was incredible. The staff was tremendous and couldn’t recommend this place more. We had a 6 person suite and it was perfect. Thank you laureate team so much!
Not impressed with room especially for the price charged. We had ants all over kitchen and in bedroom too. Side of refrigerator was filthy and the $25 daily resort fees plus taxes for just a pool and no fitness center, hot tub or other amenities was excessive. I will say the housekeeping and maintenance staff were very pleasant, but I would not recommend this hotel. Much nicer places with more amenities available.
After working in the luxury resort industry for many years, I have to say this hotel was truly exceptional. The level of customer service was five star. From texting me before we arrived to helping my husband mail something he left behind-impeccable service! The room was very clean and the pool area was very nice! We can’t wait to return!
Update: I'm updating my review to reflect the clear and detailed communication I've received from Alberto regarding next steps. I appreciate the follow-through from management and being met with empathy and genuine concern. Although our experience in one specific room was not ideal, I would be open to returning to the Laureate in the future. Pros: We were a group of friends traveling and the 3 bedroom and 2 bath suite on the 4th floor was ideal for our stay. It provided us ample beds, space, and privacy. Also, I appreciate the cleanliness of the bathrooms at arrival. Cons: The room had an overwhelming odor consistent with mold from the moment we entered. We were informed that no comparable room was available and attempted to mitigate the smell by opening the windows, which provided no relief. The ceiling also appears to show signs of mold that has been painted over. After this experience, I found additional guest reviews with multiple reports of similar mold-related issues, indicating this is not an isolated incident. What is especially troubling is the lack of concern and empathy shown when I raised these issues with the front desk and later via email. The level of guest service was disappointing. In addition, the only elevator was particularly slow, trash was overflowing in common areas, furniture was a bit worn, and street noise was not ideal (although could be worse but the heavy sliding doors help).
Excellent experience. The rooms are huge with a modern, stylish interior. Loved the great view from the balcony. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Highly recommended.
Hotel is nice enough, but if you are traveling with a baby or a toddler I wouldn’t recommend. We stayed there for 2 nights and our toddler played on the floor, his feet and clothes were black from dirt. Luckily I brought his portable crib , otherwise we wouldn’t stay. Very dirty.
We just left from a two night stay. The hotel and room were super nice but the room was dirty. The floor was dirty and made our feet black. Also, pulled out a variety of glasses, dishes and silverware, and they were dirty. It's a shame because we liked the hotel.
