The Pier House Resort & Spa offers a prime location in Key West with stunning ocean views and a tranquil atmosphere, particularly praised for its beautiful beach and attentive staff. However, recent reviews highlight concerns about room quality, outdated amenities, and unexpectedly high costs, including parking and resort fees.
Their beach is the most beautiful and cleanest beach on the island! The pool is great. Tequila at the front desk is lovely! Delia is a great waitress, always making sure everyone has their drinks and snacks The turkey & Brie sandwich was delicious and the kids menu is perfect!
You are paying a steep price for location. This resort has very little else to offer aside from that fantastic location. Everything has an extra charge (parking and breakfast are non-negotiables for me, especially at prices like this). Rooms are lackluster; lights were flickering, fixtures in bathroom were rusting or broken and there is no ventilation fan. We are not messy people, we try to clean and organize the best we can before leaving our room, and yet at most housekeeping just made the bed... Our floors and shower stayed dirty and wet the whole 4 nights.
Very disappointing, it's all about the location. My wife and I went there for our 41st anniversary. I mentioned it to both the reservation desk and the concierge. We didn't get any little token, not even a piece of Key Lime pie, or even a mention of it from the front desk. It costs $40 a night to park (pay through an app not on your hotel bill) and $60 "resort fee" so you are down $100 before you spend 1 night there. The room cost around $850 and we were given a room overlooking a parking lot. I was moved to another room with a garden view. Our room was fine except there was just 1 chair and no place to put the 6 extra pillows. We put them on the chair instead of the floor and then had no place to sit. Waterfront breakfast was fabulous (it's all about the location). We did not go to the Chart Room or have dinner here and the bill was just a little over $1,000. My recommendation: Stay someplace else and walk over to eat breakfast on the water or have dinner and watch the sun go down. We have stayed in other KW hotels and found the experience much more enjoyable. Won't be returning.
If you're looking for the best of the best in Key West, Pier House is it. The staff, the location, the views and the food are all top tier. The property is close to everything and yet feels secluded from the craziness of Duval, quiet as can be. You can feel the stress melt away as you walk through the impeccable grounds to the full service private beach and pool. The staff are extremely attentive, checking in the exact right amount to see if you need a new drink or some food. We enjoyed the coconut shrimp and the smoothest pina colada I've ever had. The rooms are well appointed, spotless and well airconditioned. There's nothing like waking up to an unobstructed view of paradise. The water pressure in the shower is the best I've ever had in a hotel, perfect to rinse of the day. We will be back!
The location is convenient to a variety of stores to shop in as well as, a nice selection of restaurants. Everything we needed was within walking distance. The resort itself was very nice. I liked my room okay. It had a nice view of foliage and one of the walking paths. There are plenty of chairs near the pool and on the beach.
Rooms need upgrading. Our Room was near noisy elevators and beds were hard as a rock. Fan in bathroom so noisy could not be turned on, therefore could not use ceiling light. Staff was great, grounds were clean. The “ private beach” is a small strip of sand with a very noisy machine used to clean up seaweed. 40 dollars a day to park car and 18 dollar drinks at bar? We paid 10 dollars for "aqua Fresca” juice water. Restaurant food was good. Overall this place is Overpriced and overrated.
Pier House Resort & Spa in Key West gives beautiful waters, a tiny private beach, and tropical vibes ??? — prime Duval Street location to explore shops, bars, and sunset spots. The spa + pool are nice touches too. But rooms feel dated, amenities are not luxury level, and prices feel steep for what you get ?. Great for the views & vibe, just manage expectations. ??
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Pier House Resort & Spa, and I wanted to personally share how much we truly enjoyed our visit. From start to finish, it was a wonderfully relaxing vacation. Breakfast each morning was excellent, and we had the same server several days in a row who took great care of us. Housekeeping also did a terrific job keeping our room spotless and comfortable — we genuinely appreciated their attention to detail. In the evenings, we enjoyed stopping at the Chart Room for cocktails, and the poolside service was outstanding. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and made the experience even more enjoyable. There is just one small item I wanted to mention for your awareness. We tipped our breakfast server $20 each day, and upon reviewing our charges, it appears that an additional gratuity may have already been included. It might be helpful if guests were informed at check-in — or by the server — that gratuity is automatically added. We had the same server multiple days and were unaware that tip was already included. I certainly don’t want to get anyone in trouble, as everyone provided excellent service, but I do feel that clearer communication would be appreciated by guests. For housekeeping, we tipped $20 per day as well. They absolutely deserved every penny, and we were very happy to do so. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would gladly give your property a glowing review. Thank you for providing such a memorable and relaxing experience.
Our issues started as soon as we tried to book - we found a discount on the room on Trivago and decided to call Pier House directly to see if they could match. Instead, the concierge tried to sell us the same room for 50% more than was listed on their website!! And then promptly hung up on us when we referenced the website. The rooms are subpar at best. Our window and outdoor area faces a busy walking path with no privacy, so we had to keep it closed all weekend. There is no soundproofing at all and we were right beside the bar that got really loud at night. The bathroom was probably the worst - for one, the toilet would splash back all over the seat and the wall every time you flush! The sink has no water pressure and no temperature controls, the shower didn't get hot enough, and the shampoo and conditioner were super watered down (and did nothing). Not something I would expect for the premium we payed over other places to stay here! In terms of service, we asked for two towels and were brought two hand towels instead (??). There is also no shuttle to/from the airport which I know other hotels around provide. The pool is nice, but the hot tub is way too hot (and I'm one who usually likes them hot). The private beach is definitely the best part but it was tiny (and nothing stops random non-guests from walking in anyways). Overall would not recommend for the price.
I had an excellent experience at this wonderful hotel. The staff were quite helpful and friendly; they were able to hold out bags until our room was ready, and again after we checked out and waited for our ferry. The hotel restaurant was also great, and served delicious breakfast options. The private beach was a nice touch, being able to lounge on a comfortable beach chair really was a highlight. Thank you!!
