The Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Marathon Florida Keys offers a convenient location near Key West and various water activities, with a focus on family-friendly amenities like a pool, shuttle service, and on-site dining. Recent reviews highlight a pleasant stay with friendly staff and a clean environment, though some concerns regarding room cleanliness and parking fees have been raised.
Bartender if you don't want to wake up before 9:00 a.m. it's a very noisy area with the doors slamming from the rooms next to you will be your only problem other than that it's extremely quiet. Amazing area outside by the water to hang out and a really nice bar restaurant 5 ft from the back exit which has an extremely good views and vibe. Laid-back and relaxed but it did get pretty packed. We booked on a weekend and had to pay almost $300 some weekends get up to $500 but if you're in the perfect time of year and look for it you can get in for $120 to me personally I think it's only worth $200
We had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday weekend! We've stayed here before, it's the perfect location, right next to Sparky's Landing! I can't say enough about the hotel staff, especially Leyanis! She was able to get us into our room early, and was so wonderful and accommadating! She was a pleasure to work with!
Omar at the front desk was incredibly welcoming and made check-in quick and easy. His friendly smile and positive attitude made a great first impression. The room was clean and spacious, and the complimentary breakfast was a nice bonus. Great value, friendly staff, and a wonderful stay. Thank you, Omar, for making our visit memorable!
This is the perfect hotel if you are a budget conscious tourist to the Keys but don't want to compromise on the quality. The staff at the reception was Soo welcoming. They gave a little ball and rubber duck to my son, which made his day! The pool and hammocks with the tiki bar are a great vibe. Sparkys restaurant onsite was the perfect island vibe with amazing sea food options! And there are many watersports onsite as well. There are clean, family friendly beaches nearby. Key west is 1 hr and 15 mins from here which makes it a great day trip.
I'm a Marriott Bonvoy Elite member and had been looking forward to this stay at the Fairfield Marathon Florida Keys — a reservation made in December 2025. While the property itself is in a beautiful location, the front desk experience left a lot to be desired. As an Elite member, I expected to be welcomed with the standard amenity package at check-in. Instead, I had to ask for water, and no welcome bag was offered, despite watching other guests receive theirs. When I requested a room upgrade, I was told the hotel was fully booked — information that turned out to be inaccurate, as I was able to book a room in the newer wing online for last-minute guests shortly after. A staff member even acknowledged to her colleague that upgrades were available, but nothing was offered to us. We ended up in a first-floor pet-designated room. My wife has allergies and found pet hair in the room, and when she raised this concern, we were moved — but again, no upgrade was extended despite rooms clearly being available. To add to the frustration, our room was never scheduled for housekeeping. When I approached the cleaning staff directly, none of them had our room on their roster. Rather than resolving it on the spot, the housekeeping manager — who was also rude — told me to go to the front desk and request it myself. It took two separate trips to the front desk before our room was finally serviced, and that wasn't until 5:00 PM. For a property carrying the Marriott name and serving Elite members with advance reservations, this experience missed the mark on every level — from check-in to daily service. I hope management will use this feedback to seriously improve how Elite guests are recognized and treated throughout their stay.
I would describe our visit as “mixed emotions” I’ll share with you our pros and cons so you can make up your own mind on whether or not you should book. Pros- Well staffed - whatever we needed they were on site and ready. They weren’t short staffed at all. Endless pool towels. We kept turning in wet ones and got fresh ones. For a family of 6 this was a game changer. Cardio equipment was great. Complimentary breakfast although nothing special had the basics and the kids enjoyed it. 2 pool options- shady and sunny, zero entry or traditional. It was nice to have options Beds were generally comfortable. Microwave and fridge in the room was helpful Amber was super kind and helpful to my daughter who needed oat milk. On site guest laundry- kinda pricy $4 each Location was generally good we enjoyed Marathon a lot Cons- Price for parking wasn’t good- this really should be free here. Overall points/price cost was lofty for value. The blinds in our room were messed up Ice maker was broken- out of order The room is too dark The shower curtain was broken The door lock gave us issues because of the deadbolt- it wouldn’t engage and then when we left it wouldn’t lock but it also wouldn’t allow us back in. The front desk made us feel like we just weren’t working it correctly but this is an issue that needs to be resolved. On our final night a school group with teenagers checked in. This not the hotels fault per se but they did make our last night less comfortable- late nights lots of running and woke us up early. Most upsetting issue by far was the gym floor. I am going to say this directly IT IS DANGEROUS. Not just 1 but numerous dips or holes in the flooring (5-6 is my guess) before the rubber mat makes for a dangerous ankle breaking level of danger. It’s likely to cause someone injury and should be fixed immediately. It’s exacerbated by the pattern on the flooring causing it to be an optical illusion.
We highly appreciated the smile of the front desk the entire team ! Leynades was a real sunshine, night auditor as well. We appreciated the spotless room Very convenient, and nicely refurbished. Elevator was a little loco. And the point we would definitely want to get some upgrade is breakfast, espresso, a real espresso is a must for european, as well as continental breakfast. AC is a little loud but worked great. The restaurant, pool , service and view and location were PERFECT!!!!
We spent four nights at this hotel and overall really enjoyed our experience. After doing a lot of research, this felt like the best option in our price range while still offering somewhat of a resort feel. We opted for a suite with a balcony overlooking the water, and that was absolutely worth the extra cost. The rooms and overall property were very clean, which is extremely important to our family. The front desk staff was friendly, and while the breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast, it was hot, fresh, and well maintained. We especially enjoyed the tiki bar at the pool and the on-site restaurant. The drinks at the tiki bar were pretty pricey (1 beer, 1 mojito, 1 punch cocktail, and 1 soda came to $48 with tip), but it was a fun atmosphere. We saved the restaurant for our last night and agreed it was our favorite meal of the trip — great food, service, and atmosphere. The outdoor game area with ping pong, cornhole, and Connect Four was a great bonus and allowed for some fun, inexpensive family time. The hammocks around the pool were a really nice touch, too. Our main issues were with housekeeping. They clean every other day, which was fine, but they missed our scheduled cleaning day. After a long day out, walking into a dirty room when we were ready to wind down was disappointing. We were assured it would be cleaned the next day, but by nearly noon no one had come. I tracked down housekeeping and was told it would be done within an hour, so we headed to the pool. When we returned almost three hours later, they had just started cleaning, and we had to wait on the balcony while they finished. The beds were so-so comfort-wise, though I’ll admit I have pretty high standards when it comes to mattresses. Overall, we would stay there again and recommend to others.
Our experience here was great. The room was a king size bed with a pool view on second floor. We will be back. Enjoyed the pool and location of this hotel close to everything.
Jahneil and Leyanis were amazing and really made me feel valued as a Platinum member. Husband and I stayed Christmas Eve and checked out on Christmas Day. Laundry on site, which was convenient and front desk can give you change for the machines. We used the gym too which is next to the laundry room. In close proximity to convenient stores and restaurants without feeling like it’s a busy area to be in. Shoutout to Dennis the facilities member, very helpful too. But honestly can’t say enough about Jahneil and Leyanis. Only recommendation is to make sure ALL duty staff are fully trained and familiar with membership tiers and perks.
