Baker’s Cay Resort Key Largo consistently receives positive feedback regarding its stunning grounds, friendly and welcoming staff, and engaging activities like paddleboarding and kayaking. However, recent reviews highlight issues with inconsistent housekeeping, cramped bathroom sizes, and disruptive noise levels due to frequent events. Value perception appears mixed, with some finding it worthwhile while others consider it pricey for the overall experience.
Yes, the forced valet parking is ridiculous, but if an extra $35/day is going to ruin your vacation, don't come. Aside from that, the grounds are beautiful and incredibly well-maintained. The rooms are fantastic and taken care of by a wonderful housekeeping staff. The paddleboards and kayaks are brand new. What really makes Baker's Cay special is the staff. From the valet team, to the front desk, to the maintenance crew, to the servers/bartenders at the restaurants - everyone we came in contact with was super friendly and welcoming. We have 2 more days left here and wish it was more. Can't wait to return to Baker's Cay very soon!
We recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. Our suite was comfortable overall, but the bathroom was extremely small—so small that when you opened the door, it nearly touched the toilet. It made the space feel cramped and awkward to use. Housekeeping was also disappointing. On the first day, our room was cleaned, but no fresh towels were left behind. On the second day, housekeeping didn’t come at all, and we had to track down a cart ourselves to get clean towels. That level of inconsistency was frustrating and not what we expect from a hotel stay. That said, outside of the bathroom size and housekeeping issues, our stay was pleasant. We especially enjoyed the amenities included in the resort fee—playing corn hole and foosball, and taking advantage of the paddle boards and kayaks. Those activities added a lot of fun and value to our trip. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of Calusa, the hotel’s nicer restaurant. The other restaurant was disappointing. With some attention to housekeeping consistency and room layout improvements, this could easily be a much stronger experience overall.
You feel like you entered another world when you arrive at Baker’s Cay. The property and grounds are stunning and beautifully maintained. The natural beauty is very accessible here. It’s very much a destination in itself, not just another hotel in the Keys. We stayed in the Bakers Cay suite (2BR/1BA) with 2 adults and 3 children and it was just perfect. The children had a great time at the Pool, Beach, and Garden. The separate family and adults pool is very thoughtful and lets everyone get their fix. We didn’t dine in at the restaurant or bar, but the poolside drinks were great and not outrageously priced.
Baker’s Cay Resort is a beautiful property with a strong ambition to feel upscale, but in our experience it fell short in several key areas. The grounds and setting are lovely, and we’re glad we visited, but the overall execution didn’t match the premium price point. The water-sports and recreation equipment available for rent was visibly worn, not particularly clean, and felt heavily used—something that detracts from a resort positioning itself as high-end. Dining was another disappointment. While the restaurants are nicely designed, the food itself was largely underwhelming and did not meet expectations for a resort of this caliber. The biggest issue, however, was the overall atmosphere. Throughout the weekend, other guests were yelling in hallways, slamming doors late at night, and shouting at children on the beach. While this is not entirely within management’s control, it significantly impacted the experience and did not feel consistent with a luxury resort environment. When we raised concerns, staff mentioned that deep discounts had been offered to fill the resort that weekend—which was surprising, considering we paid a premium rate for our stay. Overall, we’re glad we experienced Baker’s Cay, but it ultimately wasn’t what we were looking for. With better crowd management, improved upkeep of amenities, and stronger food offerings, it could better align with the upscale experience it aims to deliver.
We stayed here for our 10 year wedding anniversary for 4 days and 3 nights in november of 2025. The room was beautiful upon check in. Jannell (the restaraunt manager) made our reservation for the private gazeebo dining experience and went above and beyond. She decorated our room with flowers and even put petals down on the bed. She chose Justin to be our server for the gazeebo dinner and he was amazing. His service was perfect and he was very relatable and friendly. Ashley the concierge also went above and beyond with our reservations and continually checked in on us to make sure everything was meeting our expectation and we were enjoying our stay. The beaches were fun and beautiful and the staff really made the difference to make our trip memorable. We will be returning next year with the whole family and our dog to share the experience.
We had a very good trip to Bakers Cay in December. Grounds were beautiful and the beach areas were nice. The accommodations were good and everyone we came across was very friendly. Breakfast was pretty good and filling while lunch was the best with the Mahi bowl. If staying in the Hammock building, I’d highly suggest the 3rd and 4th stories for a view of the water and not trees. This rating should fall somewhere between a 4 and 4.5 for me. Would definitely go back.
I traveled to this hotel all the time. It's one of the most beautiful properties and best service that i've ever been to. The attention to details from every step of the way from the pool and beach service and activities for the kids is one of a kind. I got the privilege and pleasure to meet Ainsley Dixon the hotel manager, who I saw in a suit in 85 degree weather, bringing cocktails to guests at the beach with the biggest smile on his face. As someone in the hospitality industry like myself noticed right away. And I was so impressed with his level of service. He is one of the nicest individuals That I ever met in the hotel business he found out it was my wife's birthday and made her favorite cocktail and brought a server with him to sing happy birthday and made it extra special on the beach. His reflection on service You can tell right away that all team members have that go get it attitude to make guests happy. I also would like to mention Peter from the restaurant out dinner service. His intention to detail and making sure every dinner was special for us.And every single way. Overall, a five star property.I will be back very soon.
My husband and I stayed at Baker’s Cay this past October for our 10-year anniversary, and it truly exceeded every expectation. We hadn’t traveled without our kids in nearly eight years, so this trip meant a lot to us. I’ll admit, after reading some reviews about ongoing construction, I was hesitant and even considered switching to the Marriott. I am so glad we didn’t—Baker’s Cay was absolutely the right choice. From the moment we arrived, the property took our breath away. The grounds are stunning, and with the two beautiful beaches, it honestly felt like we were somewhere in the Caribbean. We had perfect weather, delicious drinks, and great food at the bar throughout our stay. We also loved the activities offered on-site—kayak rentals and fishing were both huge highlights for us. We opted for a beachfront room in the Coconut Wing, and it was worth every penny. The view was spectacular, the room was spotless, and we were so impressed with how friendly and welcoming the staff was. This trip was everything we hoped for and more. We’re already talking about returning—and next time we’ll probably bring our kids! We truly had the best time at Baker’s Cay and couldn’t recommend it more highly
This was my solo birthday weekend trip and first time at the Key Largo Key west FL, im so grateful to Tranisha and Liliana who made me feel special and gave me the best birthday present with an upgrade and the warmest welcome. These girls are best at welcoming you to the resort and cheers to all the energy they bring to the hospitality industry. Shout out to Ainsworth who made sure all the guests have a great time on coconut beach and enjoy all the fun island activities the resort offers. This resort offers kayaking, paddle boarding, jet ski, fishing so go out and ask for Omar, Yasmanny or Marqise and they will take care of the water sports activities and your safety. Special mention to Rusty and Jasmine for being the best bartenders and servers and making sure my birthday was a celebration. This island has so much to offer from hammocks to quiet beach nap areas to fun treasure hunts as well. Cant wait to visit again!
I had a truly wonderful stay at Baker’s Cay and can confidently say it exceeded my expectations. While no place is immune to criticism, if you're not overly high-maintenance or looking for things to complain about, this resort is genuinely amazing. The beaches are stunning. I appreciated the thoughtful setup—one beach is geared toward families, with complimentary access to kayaks, paddle boards, and other water toys, while the hammock beach offers a more tranquil atmosphere with tree coverage and a peaceful vibe. The pool areas were also fantastic. There's a designated adult pool and a family pool, cleverly separated by a waterfall, which helps maintain a serene environment for those seeking quiet. Our room was clean, comfortable, and offered a beautiful view of the hammock beach. The resort also organizes daily activities—we took part in sunset yoga and trivia night, both of which were a lot of fun. While the on-site restaurants were a bit pricey, that’s to be expected at a Key Largo resort. That said, every meal we had was delicious, and the service throughout our stay was exceptional. Every staff member we encountered—from servers to front desk personnel—was friendly, helpful, and professional. Overall, don’t let negative reviews sway you. I would absolutely stay here again—10/10 experience.
