The Southernmost Beach Resort offers a prime location in Key West, known for its beautiful beachfront setting and multiple pools. However, recent reviews highlight significant issues with seaweed accumulation, high resort fees, and inconsistent service, impacting the overall guest experience and beach accessibility. Some guests found rooms smaller than expected and described maintenance issues.

As soon as we gpt out the car the fresh sea odor is alot to deal with. They charged $800 (200 a night) for security hold. $65 a night for gratuity and $50 a night for parking. The rooms( which is supose to be deluxe) and the pool side looks nothing like the pictures. The beach OMG was full of mud. No where near the pictures. You can't even enjoy sitting outside because of the smell.

I was so excited for this trip, I do think their website and pictures are very misleading. Not even the guest houses actually lead up to the water like advertised. On top of the beach being covered in mountains of seaweed almost to my waist. More than anything nothing in the room worked and our bed room light kept turning on multiple times through night, every night. The hotel service was so mean, they made a big deal on getting a parking spot and almost didn’t give us one. After telling us when we did need one to just go to front desk. She was the blonder older women told us right up front “she couldn’t help us”. This being said, bartenders are awesome there. So nice and kinda saved our experience when we did spend time on the resort. The rest of key west was so amazing and nice. Just highly recommend getting a cute bed and breakfast with a pool somewhere else.

We stayed here expecting to enjoy a beachfront resort, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing. The biggest issue was the massive amount of seaweed (sargassum) washed up along the shore. The smell was overwhelming and could be detected throughout much of the property. It was so unpleasant that we didn't want to spend time at the beach, pools, or outdoor seating areas. We even booked a Oceanside view with balcony. Instead, we spent most of our days on the bayside near the marina, where there was no odor and the atmosphere was much more enjoyable. As a result, we essentially used the hotel only as a place to sleep at night. We paid daily resort fees but were unable to enjoy many of the amenities that those fees are supposed to support. The property itself is average and not particularly remarkable compared to other places we visited in Key West. Had we known about the seaweed conditions, we would have booked a hotel on the bayside instead. My advice to future visitors: if you're traveling during seaweed season, check current beach conditions before booking. You may find that staying near the marina or bayside of Key West provides a much more enjoyable experience than paying a premium for an oceanfront resort that you may not want to use.

We stayed for 4 nights in June, and our experience was a mixed bag of good and somewhat disappointing. For the good. The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff was polite, room cleaning was always timely, and the grounds felt clean and safe. You're right at the end of Duval St. giving you access to all the nightlife with a 15-minute walk or a 5-minute bike ride. What detracted from our experience? First, the area STINKS near the ocean. The seaweed rots on the shoreline, and it smells of strong rotten eggs. Gag worthy and very unfortunate. We avoided the beach the full trip. For the stuff the hotel can control? The bathroom shower door leaves big puddles on the floor so we're getting ready in a pool of water and soaked towels. Ceiling fan was controlled by our neighbors one room over (we seriously could control their fan, and they controlled ours. During the night, our fan would beep and change speeds or get turned off, and when we put it back on, we were fighting their controls who promptly turned it back off). Pool areas were very crowded and there isn't enough room for everyone who wanted to use it. Finally, whatever rate you book, add another $70/night for their "Resort Fee" which is their way of clawing back any savings you may have found online. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience, just enough little things to knock it to 3-stars, but my next trip to Key West will look for a different resort away from the southern end and the seaweed rot.

We were there from May 9-14 celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary. Highly recommend Duval Gardens! It is for couples only, right on Duval Street, included breakfast at the main resort area, and was quiet. We had a king room that opened right out to the pool. The room was comfortable, very clean, and had a refrigerator and a safe. We were able to walk everywhere. If you are more interested in the hustle and bustle of a resort, the main area might be best for you.

Overall, very pleased with our stay. I loved the location of the resort - easy walking distance to nearly everything we wanted to do. The rooms were very nice. The lone bad mark is the really low water pressure. When we went back to check if our room was ready , there was a long line of people. We stepped outside by the pool, and Chevenea ( I apologize if I’m spelling it incorrectly), asked with needed help. We explained our situation and she went right inside and came out about 10 minutes later, with our room keys. She then walked outside with us, and gave directions to where we needed to go. Exceptional service! On the opposite spectrum - our server in the cafe, Vicky, was terrible. She put the water glasses on the table completely out of our reach. She dropped plates off without a word and walked away. Didn’t check on us once. Finally, on checkout day, while putting a bag in my car more than 1 1/2 hours before we needed to be out, I was approached by a woman from housekeeping asking if we were checking out and my room number. I said yes, but we had until 11:00, and she said no rush. A few minutes later, as I was leaving my room to put a few more things in my car, she called to me from outside the room next door, asking if anyone was still in my room. I told her that was twice she did this to me. I called the front desk to make them aware. But, I will not let the negatives ruin the great time we had. I do recommend this resort for your stay!

We were there last March. Going back again. My husband and I will never EVER stay anywhere else. From the moment we checked in, everyone was nicer than the next person. The girl who checked us in, who was very pregnant at the time, upgraded us to a partial ocean front view. We couldn’t have been more pleased. The room was excellent. I loved that we walked right outside our door and sat right by the ocean. The breakfast was delicious. Everything was in walking distance. Very convenient to all that Duval street has to offer. The staff was exceptional. The pool and bar were great. Looking forward to coming back.

Deeply Disappointing Stay at Southernmost Hotel My experience at the Southernmost Hotel was far from what I expected, and unfortunately, I can’t recommend it. The service was consistently unhelpful and at times flat out rude. It was as if guests were an inconvenience rather than a priority. Basic requests took ages, and staff rarely followed through. The amenities were another major letdown. The facilities were poorly maintained. For the price point, I expected far better upkeep and attention to detail. Air conditioning was loud and water pressure was almost non-existent. Noise was a constant issue throughout my stay, and probably my most significant. My room was right next to the breakfast area where I was awoken to the clanging of dishes promptly at 6:30 every morning. Doors were slammed throughout the night, and maintenance was talking loudly through the halls after 11 pm on my last night's stay. Whether it was thin walls, loud hallways, or general lack of sound control, getting any rest was a challenge. Maintenance across the property felt neglected. From malfunctioning fixtures to worn-out common areas, it’s clear the hotel needs significant improvements. Overall, this stay was frustrating from start to finish. If this was a $200/night hotel I would expect this level, however for $500/night I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere until the hotel addresses these ongoing issues.

This was our first time at this resort, and I have to say, it was a wonderful experience for our entire family (six adults and one child). Latoya checked us in and could not have been more patient and friendly. My husband and I were in a partial ocean view room, and being new guests, we were not sure of the building layout as the hotel spans across a few blocks. Staff escorted us by golf cart and helped us get our bags to our room. The room itself was lovely. It was modernized, clean, and the scenery definitely was impressive for a partial view. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning well-functioning, and there was a mini fridge for extra drinks and snacks. The balcony was also a nice addition to the week. We were in a corner unit with minimal noise heard from neighboring rooms and housekeeping. Only a few minor cons to note: - The televisions had no channel information or even paper guide to show what you’re watching. This was consistent among all three of our rooms. Not a big deal as WiFi was decent and we weren’t there much outside of sleeping. - Our room did have some ants, though not to a point of infestation. I expect this to some extent in Florida, but it may bother others more. - The restaurant was hit or miss. Our dinner the first night was delicious and the server was excellent. The next day at breakfast was not the same experience. The food is tasty (I recommend the salmon with bagel). But our server accidentally lost our bill after payment, meaning we had been charged but no card or receipt returned. I was able to lock the card and thankfully staff located it shortly after. Still, this resulted in a slightly late start to our activities that day, and it’s a bit unsettling not knowing who had our card number. - The showers in all three rooms were aesthetically pleasing, but functionally minimal. Thick hair beware; it was not easy to shampoo thoroughly. That said, low water pressure is not uncommon in Key West in efforts to preserve resources. Biggest pros: - A clean beach and pool areas. Staff did a great job keeping these populated areas in good condition. - The lobby and lobby staff. They were quite attentive to us each time we were there, ensuring we got to our Lyfts and assisting us with bags. They also securely stored our luggage after checkout prior to our departure. The complimentary flavored water was a lovely perk, too. - The Shores pool bar. The bartenders were fantastic. We went to many venues during our stay, but continued to enjoy the Shores key lime drinks over several others. Overall, Southernmost was a great hotel with all the amenities and services one could want in a tropical stay. We look forward to visiting again.

We stay here for one reason and its the room with the view next to the ocean. We've been coming 3 years to this location absolutely love it. If at any time you questions, concerns or might have a room problem the team will be on it they will make sure ur stay is comfortable and to be honest this team works hard to keep everyone happy. They have 3 pools avaliable, if u stay right next the view of the beach there are lounging chairs ready for u right at beach and 3 bars available on site. Every pool has its own kind of vibe going. They also include a person who can book events for u if u wanna go on a helicopter ride or just a nice trip around a hunted tour. Really COOL thing about it close to Duval street where all the scene is happening. Highly recommend it!!! Prices are comfortable depending what your doing on the island and what room your looking to stay in.
