We stayed at this property for five nights during our honeymoon, and unfortunately, the overall experience did not match the price point or expectations of a resort in this category. Arrival and common areas: The initial appearance of the property was underwhelming for the cost of the rooms. The main lobby is quite small, and even some basic amenities seemed poorly maintained. On our first day, for example, the water dispenser in the lobby took nearly 10 minutes just to fill a small cup. One of the two elevators was also frequently out of service, and the functioning elevator was extremely hot and felt like a sauna. Hallways and rooms: The hallways leading to the rooms felt outdated, poorly maintained, and uncomfortably hot. Our room itself was relatively small, and temperature control was an ongoing issue. Although the thermostat could be set to 68°F, the room remained around 70°F much of the time, making the ceiling fan essential. Unfortunately, the ceiling fan created an even more frustrating problem. On three of our five nights, the ceiling light randomly turned on in the middle of the night, waking us up. After we reported the issue, engineering came to the room and informed us that this was a known problem that had apparently been occurring for approximately a year. We were told that the light could somehow be triggered by controls from another room and that there was no solution. It was incredibly frustrating to repeatedly be awakened during the night by a known maintenance issue, particularly when the hotel was unable to offer any meaningful resolution. Noise: There are roosters throughout the property and surrounding area, and they can be heard throughout the day and early in the morning. If you are a light sleeper, this is definitely something to consider. Pool and beach: There were frequently large lizards and roosters around the pool area, and we did not see staff making any effort to keep animals away from the pool or guest areas. Unfortunately, the beach was also difficult to enjoy during our stay because of the significant amount of sargassum, which created a strong and unpleasant odor. I understand that sargassum is a natural occurrence and outside of the hotel's control, but it significantly affected the beach experience. Overall, we were disappointed with the value of our stay. This is an expensive resort, and the quality of the property, room, maintenance, and overall service simply did not feel consistent with the price. This was particularly disappointing considering there is also a separate resort fee and approximately $50 per day for valet parking. For a property charging premium resort prices, we expected a much better maintained facility, greater attention to guest comfort, and better solutions when significant room issues were reported.

We stayed for 5 days & 4 nights at The Reach Key West. My boyfriend booked a king room with a balcony. The bedroom/living area was quite sizable. The bathroom was a decent size (not small, not big). From our balcony, we had a partial ocean view--our room was on the side of the building so our view was where the dead end street met the beach. Pros: -all the hotel staff we interacted with were friendly & helpful. They were also able to accommodate a late check out. -A few nights, we ended our day at the Four Marlins restaurant bar for drinks & dessert, which were both good. -King bed & pillows were very comfortable -I appreciate that the room had a ceiling fan in addition to the air conditioner. It really makes a difference in cooling the room in the August heat & humidity. -The location is superb. Just one block from the Southernmost point landmark & the southern end of Duval Street, which is the main street where most of the eateries & shops are. -hotel gym is spacious with decent selection of equipment, including a Peleton bike, free weights, kettle bells, yoga balls, other cardio machines, cable machine. There is also a water refill station for water bottles & two single occupancy bathrooms (one with a shower). - attentive valet for parking & retrieving our rental mini SUV. -I appreciated having a mini fridge to keep our water bottles cold. -The k-cup coffee provided was decent (not the weak, generic no name brand stuff that alot of hotels have). They use Maud's Dark Roast & Maud's decaf. They also provided single sachets of peppermint tea. - hotel gift shop has a variety of items. They sell coffee, pairfaits, snacks, toiletries, random gifts (postcards, trinkets, kids toys & books), clothing, sandals, hats, etc. -The gazebo over the water on their private beach is nice to stand under to get views of the ocean (however, see cons for more detail) -water bottles are provided complimentary in the room -daily housekeeping without needing to ask. Cons: -Unusable beach in August. This may not be the hotel's fault entirely, but the hotel should really warn guests on the booking page that during August their beach is practically unusable due to the stench (it smelled like sulfur) & accumulation of rotting seaweed on the Key West shores. The water is so brown & murky that absolutely no one was in the beach water. People used the hotel pool instead. It's a big let down when the beauty of their private beach is what is advertised strongly on their website. -The furniture is ok, but needs updating. Our room had a coffee table, sofa for two, a wicker chair with cushion, a slim writing desk with basic desk chair. - while the size of the bathroom itself was average, the toilet was oddly placed very close to the sink. If you were standing in front of the sink, there was just enough space between the sink, you, & the toilet behind you. - the light on our balcony didn't work. Overall, it's an OK hotel. Having stayed at other Curio collection hotels, this did not feel on par. It's more of a 3 star than a 4 star hotel. The room and bathroom need updating. The gym & the location are really the best aspects of the hotel.

My partner, dog, and myself spent 4 nights here just before 4th of July. Yes there was sargassum, but we knew that prior to coming that it was a possibility in summer. That’s an issue through all of Florida so it didn’t bother us. Our room was clean, the staff was friendly, and it was in a great location. My only complaint is our room would get HOT. It wouldn’t go below 74 degrees until after sunset but thankfully we traveled with a fan so it was not an issue. It was nice to walk between both properties. It was fun to explore the pools and amenities. I do wish they could net out some of the beach area so you could enjoy the ocean free of sargassum, but other than that, we had a great stay. Will definitely return in the winter months.

Here is the good, bad, and ugly... The good: beautiful location in Old Town, private beach was wonderful. Room was good size, clean, with a nice view. Layout was very good. Walking distance to many interesting places. Do rent a golf cart to ride around the island. The bad: Service was bad to terrible for our entire 6 day stay. I could give many examples, but will give just one. Bought a day bed for the day on the beach. Bed was not as pictured, got there after our appointed time and still there was no one there to set up the umbrellas, give us towels etc, and after i went and discussed with the front desk, the person they sent was visibly grumpy. Restaurant was 1.5x the cost of going out with the food and drinks just average. You will pay for the convenience. I advise going off resort to eat and drink, such good food awaits. The ugly: For the 6 days, seemed like 90% of the staff were either unfriendly or visibly grumpy. When one pays for a "Curio Collection" experience one expects the staff to at least act like they want to be there and perhsps act friendly once in a while. I am a Hilton Gold member with 300,000+ points accumulated. I expect more from a Hilton.

I didn't stay, just used a day pass and I'm happy I didn't pay all that money to stay. The beach is beautiful, what I saw of the grounds was great. Service and staff were good - someone who was staying brought a boom box, and like all people who do that they thought everybody else was enjoying their music, we were not. Staff politely asked them to put it away. Food was not the best (my sandwich got soggy right away), specially considering the prices. Also, drinks with or without alcohol cost the same which I don't understand. Day pass is worth it, just bring your own food and drinks.

I just returned from a weekend at The Reach, and the only positive part of our stay was Ricardo and the Valet team—they were incredible and deserve a raise. Unfortunately, everything else missed the mark. Our group of nine booked Queen Double Rooms months ago, yet at check?in we were told we’d be switched to King rooms with sleeper sofas. Half of my guests ended up sleeping on uncomfortable couches. We were given a $50 per?guest credit, but it couldn’t be refunded to AMX and had to be used on property. Breakfast was another unpleasant experience. Staff refused to put tables together, got rude when a chair was moved, and then told the rest of our group to leave or find another table while placing “reserved” signs all around us. Even other hotel guests noticed how over?the?top it was and offered us chairs. At the beach, the concierge refused to put beach chairs together but offered lounge beds at $200 a piece. I’ve stayed at Casa Marina every year for 15 years and was excited to try The Reach, but this was a major disappointment. Thankfully it was a short trip. I’ll be sharing this with my AMX elite representative. Again, Ricardo and the Valet team were the only ones who made us feel welcome.

If you have flexibility, book the Casa Marina, the sister hotel a block away, with better upkeep and an adults-only pool option. The Reach is where you end up when it's sold out. The property itself is merely okay. Beach-front hotels age hard and this one shows it: chipped paint, rust spots, a shower where water pooled several inches deep because the floor sloped away from the drain. Nothing catastrophic, just the cumulative impression of a property that skimps on maintenance. Most of the staff was pleasant and helpful. The reason I'm writing this review, though, is what happened at checkout. A few days before arrival I was corresponding with a coordinator about a potential welcome amenity. We hadn't finalized anything, and circumstances on travel day made it inappropriate, so I cancelled and received written confirmation. At checkout, there was a charge of over $230 for that amenity on my bill. I flagged it immediately. The checkout agent brought over Kaylee Williams, apparently the manager on duty, who said the charge couldn't be adjusted until kitchen staff arrived later. She assured me she would handle it, and even gave me her email and phone number. It was not handled. Five emails, two phone calls, and three weeks later, I have not heard back from her. Book Casa Marina.

Luxury facilities and price, low cost feel charging for amenities. Beautiful hotel and rooms… but very disappointing charging, considering the price you have paid for your room. No breakfast included, $50 per day for parking (so their parking lot is empty), $175 (!!!) for a day on the seaside beds (chairs are included in the price)… you feel like you do when you fly low cost and they start charging you for stuff… but you paid for luxury travel (1,000 + a night). Hopefully more clients concur and they revise their policies.

Great location. Rooms are small but well done. Restaurant & bar excellent. Beachfront, but very few views available from rooms. Who cares though, go outside! Valet parking, food & bar service on the beach. Close to Duval & the southernmost buoy

We came here from North Carolina for my husband's 40th. Let me tell you, absolutely the best trip ever! This hotel is a gem! The staff are amazing and so helpful. Everyone is so kind. We did experience some issues but it was from Expedia not the hotel directly. This hotel did their best to accommodate and fix a mistake that was not even their's. The restaurant is fabulous! You truly do not even need to leave if you do not want to. The restaurant at night, it is a whole vibe on itself!
